Ariel gave up her voice for a man. Aurora and Snow White were sexually assaulted. Cinderella is in danger of financial abuse. Jasmine married a pathological liar. Belle had Stockholm syndrome (in love with her captor). AND TIANA MARRIED A HOMELESS PERSON!
Disney's fairy tales like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast are actually kinda fucked up when you really think about them lol

it intensely angers me every time I open a book PDF in Acrobat and the software reminds me that I’m reading a Long Document and gee, wouldn’t I prefer a summary instead
I am not a first grade child who requires the easy-reader version of big kid books, demon machine
Tech bros shocked that normal human beings enjoy thinking

My rule of thumb for fixing or maintaining anything, cars, houses, the human body etc. Is if it normally takes more than one person, more than one hour to do (including learning) and if its something easy to fuck up and hard to fix, I call a professional.

I haven't worked on a car in almost 20 years 😬. But when I did, I drove only Crown Vic's because they were easy to fix and replacement parts were cheap lol.

I'm glad people not getting married and not having kids is being normalized. In that group, there are a LOT of people who shouldn't have even considered doing either one of those things in the first place. Society shouldn't put one ounce of pressure on them to do so.

it's really shocking to learn, as a parent now for nearly 17 years, that a lot of people really just think their kids are like big dolls that they can bend and direct at will, and not automnomous people

I think many parents also have delusional amount of belief over their abilities to raise a child with a degree of precision to become whatever they want. Parents have WAY more power to fuck up a child's life than to steer it a specific direction the other way. Its imbalanced.

Whenever I look at my kids I have tiny 35 year old versions of them on my shoulders whispering in my ears. The imagined future versions of them are my conscience.

My entire parenting philosophy is based on the idea I have *temporary* responsibility over another human being who will remember and judge *everything* I did with that responsibility.
