An interlocking crochet cowl with a repeating pattern of rows of crosses and boxes. The main colour, so the colour outlining the crosses and boxes, is white. Each pattern repeat is worked in a different colour to form a gradient: from bottom up, neon pink, violet, purple-violet, light blue, aqua light blue, then the same in reverse. The cowl has been worked up to the purple violet on the reverse side of the gradient. A tied-off bundle of loose ends can be seen poking out the bottom of the cowl.

Something that annoys me is when a pattern writer just includes the pattern repeat and you then have to tile it across the piece you're knitting. If it's something small (e.g. socks) please show the full span of the colourwork pattern. 😣 I can work with charts like that but it adds room for error.

This is the Knit Lounge at Knit + Stitch hosted by Westknits. Layla Qing of Qing Fibre was there too (I love her cardigan). The lounge was a colourful, cosy oasis in all the bustle. 🧶

I grabbed these Wax Lyrical candles on a whim and they smell *so* good. Black Cherry is intensely fruity and juicy. Sugared Rhubarb smells just like rhubarb pie filling. These scents make me feel like Autumn has finally arrived. 🕯️

It's interlocking crochet. This piece only uses triple crochets and chain spaces to create the pattern, and does so by placing stitches behind or in front of the previous row.

I've completed about half of the cowl now. I love the design & technique. Unfortunately the cheap acrylic I used, as pretty as it is, isn't very soft or drapey. Hopefully a good wash softens it up. 🧶

A strip of interlocking mosaic crochet, a method where you crochet two alternating rows, with stitches placed either in front of or behind the previous row to create a reversible pattern using colours. This piece will be a cowl and has a pattern of boxes and pluses in rows. On this side the crosses are white and the boxes are various shades of blue and green. I've completed four repeats of the pattern now.

I ordered a gorgeous pink, purple, and blue 20g mini skein set from @moonlightfibre.bsky.social last night to make another one when I realised how fun mosaic crochet is. I might make a second one like this or I might use another motif; there seem to be loads on Pinterest. 😅

Thanks! The yarn is definitely doing all the work though; it's a variegated acrylic. I'm working from the written section of the pattern right now, but I usually use charts. This pattern is a 6-row, easy-to-read repeat, so I haven't gotten lost yet, but I'll keep the tip in mind!

The yarn is Colour Rush DK in 658 - Waterfall by Cygnet and some plain white DK.

I wouldn't usually use acrylic but I had these lying around and thought it unwise to invest in fancy yarn for a project I wasn't 100% sure I'd enjoy. I'm glad I found a pretty use for these fun variegated skeins.
