Yair Wallach is one of just two people I follow for political insights. Highly recommend his thoughtful comments (and his scholarly works on urban texts and ephemera also great).
If your political education took place in Israel-supportive spheres, the word Intifada has a negative, violent and menacing meaning for you.
If your political education happened in Palestine-supportive spheres, the word Intifada has a positive, liberatory and inspiring meaning for you.

Highly Recommend! Yair Wallach wrote a great book on urban texts (ephemera), and he gave an engaging talk with students in my Arab-Israeli class last semester. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/writing-je...

It's crazy that this & previous governments (rightly) constantly hymn 'Britain's world-class universities' and (rightly) consistently identify them as central to national strategy, and yet pursue policies which are eroding, if not destroying, an asset that other countries would give anything to have

It was my biggest fear when I first heard that cursive would no longer be taught in school, that so much history would be lost to future generations, and here we are.

Can you read cursive? It's a superpower the National Archives is looking for.

If an American uses the term "car" while traveling through Western Europe in 1872, what form of travel do they mean? It seems railway travel often uses that word "railway" or "by rail." So is car the "diligence," the soon to disappear large carriage that goes between cities without railway lines?

I agree. Pete Buttigieg would be a great VP choice.
My contention is that VP candidates do very little, but the best asset for a candidate or VP is their speaking ability to help sell the Prez's agenda. And Buttegieg is fantastic even in front of Fox News interviewers.
