This isn't a comprehensive list. This barely scratches the surface of the planning and work that must be done ahead of a general strike.

But it is work that CAN be done and SHOULD be done and WILL be done -

By you.

Pick a lane and start now. Start preparing so that a general strike is possible.

7. All the local non-profits need to be able to plan ahead.

8. Find veterinarians who will do work for free/barter during the general strike.
February 10, 2026 at 5:48 PM
6. Someone needs to liason with the street medics. They will need to plan ahead, stock up on supplies, and collaborate with some physicians who will set up a free/barter clinic.
February 10, 2026 at 5:47 PM
5. Your local area will need to plan volunteer-led child care. You need to find licensed qualified people who will work for free or barter to care for the children of folks who are out on the picket lines.
February 10, 2026 at 5:44 PM
4. Start writing agitprop now. Make pamphlets, posters, and zines explaining WHEN the general strike will be, WHY we are striking, WHO else is involved, and WHAT resources are available to assist people.
February 10, 2026 at 5:43 PM
3. Folks will need help with rent, bills, and groceries. Organizations need to start soliciting donations and building up those funds NOW. The need will be enormous. Work with your local churches, school, and community centers to see if any of them will be fiscal agent for a rent fund.
February 10, 2026 at 5:41 PM
2. People need to know well in advance when the general strike will be so they can save money, build up a pantry, and generally prepare.
February 10, 2026 at 5:40 PM
1. As many unions and professional organizations as possible need to participate. If you are in a union, start working with them to prepare the membership for a strike. Advocate for your union to reach out to other unions and collaborate.

1a. if your profession does not have a union, make one.

I am not an expert. However:

If you, you personally, reading this, want a general strike in the U.S., you need to get involved NOW. Involved in what, you ask?

Subtweeting a Guardian UK article:

Behavior can be found to be legal, or to have insufficient evidence to proceed with a court case, and that behavior can still be vile, unethical, harmful, and fuckin' creepy as shit. And I can and will remain committed to shunning everything that man does.

I've watched many horror movies in my life. I hold the opinion that what makes horror scary is not monsters but humans. Humans who refuse to believe. Who placate. Or worse, collaborate.

The worst moment in a horror film is when the protagonist realizes that everyone knows and no-one will help her.

It turns out I am two links away from the files (as far as I know at this point.) Because one of my friends fought for years to get the wealthy pedos out of her professional field. And some of those fucking guys are Epstein guys.

There really has been a global conspiracy of the ultra-wealthy and powerfully connected to abuse as many women and children as they wanted, while barely bothering to cover it up because they were so fucking rich.

To the feds: This is NOT a statement of intention.

I know the world is unjust to women. I mostly have accepted it the way I accept sunburns and mosquito bites - profoundly irritating, can be avoided much of the time.

But this Epstein shit? This makes me want to watch vigilante revenge movies.

People from across the country and *around the world* are paying rent in Minneapolis - St. Paul.

Ordinary human beings are keeping families in their homes while violent paramilitaries stalk folks through the streets.

People can be so good, actually.

I'm a bit verklempt.

Deleted the mutual aid request because Y'ALL PAID THE RENT.

Thank you, so much.

In the Olympics coverage sometimes I can hear people in the background with bells and whistles, and I keep pausing the broadcast to see if the whistles are in my neighborhood.

It is weirdly stressful.

To be clear:

I am ONLY boosting rent funds that are either vetted by a trusted organization (like COPAL) or are *run by personal friends.*

I am so sorry to everyone else, but this way my followers can trust me and boost if they so desire.

I've been thinking of this a lot lately. A LOT. For no reason in particular*. Just. Y'know. Pondering.

* there is, in fact, a particular reason

Have y'all ever seen starlings, or jays, or house sparrows, mob a larger bird? A crow, or a hawk?

The hawk is larger and could kill any one of the smaller birds easily. But the mob of smaller birds is hard to stop. They harass the larger bird, confuse it, make it difficult for it to sit in peace.
