Totally agree here. Some really strong moments in this adaptation. I do wish the Hammer films had approached Dracula in the same way and Christopher Lee would have done an excellent job.
Since there is a new Dracula that is apparently pursuing the "tragic lost love" backstory, I want to talk about my favorite Drac, which is Louis Jourdan in the 1977 BBC miniseries COUNT DRACULA.

Giving blood tonight, which I'm always grateful to do. It's not that long ago the ban on gay men giving blood was lifted. I remember how othering and patronising conversations with 'well meaning types' justifying that ban were. Urgh.

I work with asylum seekers fleeing persecution for being LGBTQ+ and see first hand the damage our existing dehumanising and degrading asylum system already does to people in crisis. The proposed changes make things even worse. Please consider completing this consultation before it closes tomorrow.
PS. Not too late to tell the government what you think about their proposed changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain - the public consultation is open until 12th Feb.

Another few library reads finished then. Millar's Nemesis was lazy garbage. Morrison's Nameless has gorgeous artwork but feels so close to Alan Moore's Neonomicon/Providence and it's.. uh.. Peak Morrison with lots of (exhausting, ymmv) references to 'real world' magic.
