For #dragonappreciationday I wanted to state that the first community I felt welcome in, back in the 90s, wasn't furry (because it was too niche at the time) but the Draconic community on IRC. They accepted me as an anthro dolphin but also inspired me to create my gryphon persona.

For #dragonappreciationday I wanted to state that the first community I felt welcome in, back in the 90s, wasn't furry (because it was too niche at the time) but the Draconic community on IRC. They accepted me as an anthro dolphin but also inspired me to create my gryphon persona.

Time off for FWA approved.
Now I have to decide if I'm going, register before March, and book a flight.
If I go, I'm also doing the aquarium takeover thing assuming it doesn't conflict with dance comps. I emailed asking about doing photography up front for the dance comps. I guess we'll see.

My chances of attending FWA have gone up slightly since I talked to someone about rooming with them there.
I have concerns about the size of the con and how well I'll sleep. In 2019 I didn't sleep well because of the design of the hotel and having a low floor. I can only imagine it's worse now.

I feel like I fucked up by not going to a con this weekend because it's literally the coldest weekend we've had so far this season and everything I had planned to do was outside.

I really wish I was going to one of the two conventions this weekend. It's going to be incredibly cold and it looks like all my plans this weekend are going to get cancelled and I'll have nothing to do but sit at home and brood about the bullshit going on in my state and the world.

Been feeling more like my gryphon self lately. He's almost as old as my dolphin character & retains the original colour scheme I moved away from.
I named him "Stormtalon" even though he has paws on all four limbs and no talons.
He's a maleherm & vaguely hawk/wolf based.
I need more art of him.

I just heard my boss was going to Boston today and I had to ask if it was for the furry convention (everyone knows I'm a furry at my work because of my photography).
He said no it's just for the week, but the irony was too amusing to pass up.

I still kind of want to go to ANE someday but it's getting to the size where I'm wary of it.
I was going to go in 2021. Then covid happened, and by 2022 I had lost interest. It was the theme for 2021 I wanted to go for, the 90s, but I also heard it was a good con.
