Today was one of those days that remind me why I am so privileged to have my job at @make2ndscount.bsky.social . The finale of #LGCW2025 was Health Disparities in Cancer where there was a clear appetite to turn awareness into action with patient voice in the room to remind us why this matters

A reminder of the impact of living in a more economically deprived community compared with a more affluent one.

This slide summarises why we are all today, as part of London Global Cancer Week to understand cancer health disparities but mive to action.

A beautiful campaign in the windows of Gilead Life Sciences. A far cry from the public service messaging of the 1980s with the tombstone which terrified me as a teenager. It's testimony to reasearch into, and campaigning about HIV, leading to HIV treated as a chronic disease with stigma reduced

Today is Equal Pay Day.

From now until the end of the year, women in the UK are effectively working for free.

The gap still sits at 10.9% and for many Black and Asian women it’s even wider.

We need equal pay, flexible work and transparency.

Not tomorrow, today.

Yesterday I was proud to take part (as a governor) in the 2025 graduation of higher education students from Barnsley College. The college plays a vital role in raising aspirations and enabling access to learning and quals in the town and wider #southyorkshire region @danjarvismp.bsky.social

A fab webinar last night as part of the Festival of Trusteeship. A key takeway? Look after your charity CEO as there isn't a queue of people behind waiting to take their place. Why not? Increasing worries about budgets, more scrutiny and criticism, the need to be 'on' 24/7.

Looking forward to the #festivaloftrusteeship this Trustee Week. Lots of great content to help us make the
non-profit sector the strongest it can be for those who need it.

Division and grievance.

Or dignity and respect.

The PM and the Labour government call out what is essentially racism from Reform PM Sarah Pochin.

Reform are not even hiding it any more.

After 5 previous governments have failed, this government's listened and this government's acted.

Sir Keir & Labour made Claire a promise and they are delivering a change in the law that will make such a difference in protection children so one has to go through have Claire & her children did.

🚨Small boat migrants getting “private health care” while the rest of us have to use the NHS?!🚨

That’s outrageous!

Or is it?

Might the reality be a little more mundane and a little less clickbait-worthy?

Let’s take a 👀

I found tonight's @theguardian.com Live event with @ledbydonkeys.org inspiring and uplifting. Realising that there are still progressive and empathetic human beings out there brave enough to take action when injustices need righting/ calling out, was the tonic I needed. Now a new micro-donor.

If you enjoy walking but want some circular routes which are easy to navigate ( and, importantly, finish at a cafe) check out the @yha #YHAWalks as part of their Festival of Walking. Oscar and I covered part of the Wales Coastal trail at Manorbier yesterday.

#greatnorthrun completed and money raised for @make2ndscount.bsky.social . I have to say the run was harder than expected, and by mile 7 getting a 'good' time was less important than finishing. Thanks for all the support
