Hate to have to do this again, but money's getting tight and I don't get paid until next week, so if you could spare a little for groceries and gas, I'd appreciate it. If you can't, don't stress about it.

BLFC is usually a large chunk of our annual income so this is a pretty dire situation, and any help or support would be GREATLY appreciated.
We're going to update shop listings and get our recent collabs on there, and then work our asses off to recover from this while we keep taking care of Nebby ❤️‍🩹

Important update: Echo and I will not be at #BLFC as planned. Alt txt/ img for details.
Hi everyone, life update from Laughing Coyote Homestead.
Not only are we grieving the loss of several members of our chicken flock, including beautiful Brave, a rooster I raised from hatching 5 years ago, but life has thrown us an even harder curve ball.
Last night, moments after we pulled our 8-year anniversary pie out of the oven, Echo and I noticed our cat, Nebby, in distress. Turns out that the coolest, sweetest cat in the world had his very first bout of urinary crystals. The night before we were to leave on a 2 day road trip to BLFC. We must attend conventions to pay our bills-- and they're our only chance to see many of our found family and closest friends-- but now, we have to stay home. We must watch over Nebby, administer meds, and find ways to increase his fluid intake to prevent this from happening in the future. I knew male cats struggled with this problem, but even my best at prevention wasn't enough. It is what it is.
We must allow ourselves to love, even if it hurts sometimes. So. What this means for us is we'll be working harder to make cool art from home, running sales and maybe streams and opening commissions, so we can make it through to January for Further Confusion. (We may not even get selling tables there, either, but will shoot for what we can.) Our life is a financial hopscotch from convention to art fair to convention, and missing a step is going to be quite a leap indeed.

If you appreciate what Echo and I do, whether it be the experimental art, farming, local political activism, or what have you, now would be a fantastic time to help. There’s also lots of inexpensive digital downloads on my PayHip, where you can get crafts to make, sketchbook compilations, and ebooks. Anything helps to recoup the cost of needing to miss a huge chunk of our yearly income. Thank you for your support: the only reason our studio runs at all is because of you. And now it's time to get to work! Stay tuned for announcements for shop sales and commission openings.

i recognize that i had the privilege to take the time off to take a break in nature while there are others getting pulled off the streets and their homes or even worse.

a week of camping with no signal made me forget there was something to worry about.

people greeted each other, we lended a hand, picked up trash, and saw the joy and wonder in this world.

this world is so goddamn beautiful, and there are so many kind-hearted people out there.

i kinda thought about this with tinfoil too. when all the earth is bombed or gone to war, the rich can hide in the bunkers and consume endless generated media and never be bored.

It's finally time for Skinktober!

What's that? No, I'm pretty sure it was never called anything else.
#art 🦢
a digital painting of a juvenile five-lined skink sitting on a decorative pumpkin. it is surrounded by vine and leaves. the lizard is striped lengthwise down its body in white and black, transitioning to a bright blue tail about halfway down. the colors have been very saturated, and the shapes are abstracted to be rigid angles.

I hope I live long enough to see the pendulum swing back to kindness and hope because I just can't fathom how this level of hatred and selfishness is sustainable.

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

Bummer, Savage Worlds is pretty fun :/ That sucks.

Ironsworn/Starforged is really fun. Lots of tables for collaborative worldbuilding.

Anything using Powered by the Apocalypse systems is great. :>

GURPS allows for a lot of customization in any setting. Can get as complicated as you want.

My mum raised me on two important principles.

1. Treat others how you want to be treated…

2. …but don’t be a doormat, if people treat you like shit then you treat them how they treat you.

Its how I live my life, those who call me “radical” just don’t like getting their own shit shovelled back.

“What radicalized you?” Bro I was told to treat people the way I would want to be treated in kindergarten and it made sense idk what else there is to say

I don't know why I relied so heavily on subscription services. I pay money to comm artists, why not musicians too? I feel so silly for realizing this so late.
skettikritter.bsky.social
Its such a no-brainer to many, but I switched to browsing bandcamp. Made me feel like I was back in the old days of record shops, listening to new music and discovering cool stuff.

Then taking that subscription money directly to the artist. Why the hell did I stop doing this haha this is rad

This means a lot to me...Thank you so much ❤️
