I mostly ramble about trivial nerd stuff, but I'm also on a Bluesky list for "angry politics." My politics are that bigots should fall into a deep, empty well. He/Him.

Every year, as I get older, I find Quentin Tarantino more and more annoying. Like, just as a person. His whole deal. He's annoying. And I don't mean he's GETTING more annoying - he might be - I mean that I retroactively find everything about his personality ever more annoying.

Of all the Star Wars music that isn't the actual Star Wars theme, The Asteroid Field is probably my favorite.

The only Zork game I unabashedly love, since I just can't with text adventures, Return to Zork is a bit rough, and I don't know, I never clicked with Nemesis. But Grand Inquisitor - there's a brilliant game!
This vision of the final mainline Zork game is brought to Frobozz Electric Posting Company. Frobozz - We're In Your Life, Everywhere!

But yes, third and final game in the Myst-alike Zork games, and one with a lot of referential, tongue-in-cheek humour.

These folks really go online every day and just admit to being giant losers. Nobody makes them post stuff like this.

Given that I don't have a fraction of Patton Oswalt's attention, I think I can get away with this: Woodchipper, feet first. The lot of them.

Filing all Chrises under "relatively charming" is actually Chris Pine slander, but he can take it
I don't think there's any one individual role where I've thought, "Why did they cast Glen Powell here?" He's pretty solid.

But the fact that he's in seemingly EVERYTHING gets a bit perplexing. Like, holy shit, did we run out of relatively charming white dudes? Are all the Chrises busy lately?

As someone who also enjoyed Sisu well enough, but felt like most of the cool parts were in the trailer (kind of peaks at "flying landmine to the face", this is exciting.
I saw Sisu: Road to Revenge. I wasn't super stoked on the first but I kinda thought this one ruled.

"It kinda conspiratorial" Me Skybrush, me no type good
It kinda conspiratorial, but it's hard not to feel like these companies all call motion smoothing by different bullshit names to deliberately make it hard to find and switch off.
the only time i ever gave back to my community (cinephile dorks whose parents claim they can't see it but we suspect are messing with us a little)

I think some people misinterpreted this as being anti-Lords of Shadow, because of the source. So, let me just clarify:

No. The Thing is a movie about a bunch of people who all distrust and hate each other trapped in one building as the tension between them slowly builds until it reaches a breaking point. It's a Thanksgiving movie.

The original Beyond Good & Evil is a game that holds such a deep, important place in my heart that I both rabidly want a sequel, but also just want Ubi to finally put it in the ground and let it die with dignity instead of... whatever this is.

The original Xbox required a separate infrared receiver dongle and remote to play DVD video discs. This workaround meant Microsoft would avoid having to pay licensing fees for the Xbox as a DVD player.
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

Games like God of War and Uncharted are why I think the idea of some inherent artistic deficiency in "AAA" games is nonsense, and counterproductive. I love big blockbusters when they're well executed. I love weird little indie games when they're well executed. Good games are good.
