One of my neighbors has been putting up these fish facts posters. All kinds of different fish, marine, freshwater, deep, shallow, all kinds. This is a good one. “Stg this real fish” took me out. Good work, neighbor.

Has anybody one ever done a tactical war game that's like Team America: World Police where half of the crisis management is shit like this

A Navy warship mistook US fighter jets for enemy missiles and opened fire. The targeted pilot saw his life flash before his eyes.
New documents reveal how the USS Gettysburg shot down an F/A-18 and nearly hit a second one above the Red Sea last year.

I can’t get over how Barbie succeeded because it offered tangible ways for women and girls to celebrate each other (and dress up and go to the movies together) but studios thought it worked because it’s about toys so now they’re making like Bananagrams the movie

I've felt plagued by Y2K nostalgia lately, from a graphic design pov there's actually a lot there which is interesting to look at Vs how boring and minimalist everything is now, but on a personal level I was depressed that whole decade so literally every time I'm reminded of something it hurts lmao
Actually speaking of nostalgia I have found it funny watching the nostalgia event horizon shift. When I was a kid it was the 50s/60s, then my generation got annoying about the 90s. Recently saw a post about "Christmas used to be fun" with a photo timestamped 2012. Basically yesterday!

Netflix, which rarely carries a single movie from before 1980, wants you to know how thrilled they are to acquire that classic piece of franchise IP, Casablanca

Went to put on my brand new cozy waterproof coat only to find the sleeves feel moist inside despite it not raining at all yesterday when I first wore it, which suggests the moisture is all the sweat I did from being so warm in there 😭🤢

Tobias is awake weirdly early today, playing peekaboo, which is where he cautiously pokes his head out from shelter to stare at me then hides quickly when I see him

I don't know if it's fun for him, like i don't think snakes play games, he just has anxiety and curiosity at the same time 😅

This was part of my charity shop haul yesterday, this is the exact kind of shit I always WANT to find there but rarely do.

It was hidden in the romance section for some reason, so somebody better fuck a monster or I'm gonna go demand my money back.

Polling basics is you don’t let your cohort self select like this. More appalling bullshit journalism laundering government bullshit form the BBC
Interesting thing to take away here.

BBC asked 5000 doctors to take part in a survey about overdiagnosis of mental health conditions. Only 15% of them responded.

And what do you think the belief will be of that 15% who specifically wanted to respond to a study into overdiagnosis? 🤔

My argument here is story like..plotting ( like, movie style stories with gameplay between) can be over-emphasised at times and feel tacked on / intrusive - this is why people skip dialogue and cutscenes.

Setting up a scenario with a vibe is more important - let us use our imaginations a bit
Good games use their story to support the gameplay and use their gameplay to support the story. It's an upward spiraling loop.

Also, most people aren't obsessed with abstract gameplay mechanics (and the few people who are obsessed are probably game devs). You need story to get people to care.

This photo looks like when someone is trying really hard to draw a realistic person, but they’re not good at it yet.
A perfectly NORMAL picture of the world's GREATEST president (who is also the HEALTHIEST man alive) picking up his very REAL peace award.
