People have rightly been asking what we mean when we say we @libdems.org.uk need to 'do better' or 'step up' as a party. There's no such thing as 'done' of course - but this is what we're pushing for currently.

The Prime Minister says he wants to go further and faster on social care, but he's moving slower and slower.

Three years just to write a report, seven extra years to implement it. Waiting until 2036 to fix social care simply isn't good enough.

Ssssh, don't tell the media that there's a bigger story to report about Lab > Lib Dem switchers than about Lab > Reform...
Roughly 40% of Labour 2024 voters who are planning on voting in these elections say they will vote for another party; those switchers are most likely to say they will vote Lib Dem followed by Reform.

Reform bot attacks on tactical voting are designed to confuse people

Because they know tactical voting is what will keep Reform out

The bot’s key message is that people won’t vote Labour

But that’s the point about tactical voting

In many places the vote is Libdem or Green

In GE2019, the Tories got 56% of seats on 44% of the votes. In GE2024, Labour got 63% of seats on 34% of the votes.

We need to change this system so that seats match votes - voters should get the MPs and policies they vote for.

Public pressure on the UK government is mounting. It's clear that Brits want the government to prioritise our relationship with the EU.

👉 Our own polling shows 43% of Brits think increasing trade with our main trading partners like the EU is the best way to respond to Trump's tariffs.

In this piece, which I am proud of and I stand by every word, I make two serious criticisms of the procedure that the Supreme Court adopted.

The Supreme Court ignored trans voices. I’m ashamed of what our law has become | Good Law Project
The Supreme Court’s decision to exclude trans voices has harmed trans people – and harmed the fairness of their ruling.

Quite incredible that so many people, including apparently now the *Equality and Human Rights* Commission, want to do something that demonstrably puts a minority group at great risk of harm in order to satiate some people who feel uncomfortable around trans people.

Trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary and intersex folks are valid just as they are. It's time this was reflected in the law of the land, and LGBT+ Lib Dems will be at the forefront of pushing for that change.

It is time for a proper UK-EU customs arrangement so we can cut the red tape on our businesses and grow our economy.
