The best part of post-conference unpacking is finding all of the vendor booth swag I apparently acquired.

I do not recall getting an oven mitt or a mini-lantern, but the contents of my suitcase tell me those are things I now have.

Ordering off of the Costco app for things I need in bulk for home or lunches? So convenient.

They’re oscillating between FedEx and UPS? Nightmare fuel.

Also, to save time: there are absolutely bad actors in the cosplay space, but this is a commentary on how there are - as far as I’m concerned - no bad cosplays. It’s all people working within their means and skill levels to enjoy the things they like in new ways.

And that’s just terrific.

There are no bad cosplayers, just cosplayers with different approaches and visions for the end result.

This is especially true for #TheMagnusArchives fans, who continue to come up with some of the most elaborate and jaw-droppingly amazing cosplays. Brilliant stuff.

Note that I am fully aware I should’ve gotten that shit done sooner, by the way, but life has a way of fucking up the best plans so I opted to not sleep and work my ass off on something.

At the end of the day I created something I was proud of, and that I actually created. It wasn’t AI excrement.

I did the final revisions of my undergrad capstone course the night before it was due, stumbled blearily to my professor’s office to drop it off, and got an A on the damn thing. And it became part of the course’s textbook.

Shortcuts are for people who want results without any effort.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

I have a bunch of ideas pinging around my skull but also need to make time to write so that’s certainly something.

It’s also hard to focus on art when work-life-ceaseless hell in the news don’t balance out too well.

I’m still exhausted from my work trip, but some thoughts I may end up deleting:

- Trying a new tie knot on 2 hours of sleep isn’t a good idea
- Finding magic in everyday things will help soothe burnout, but the over-romanticizing of doing that will do the opposite
- I’m on the fence about Olipop

When you go to print your #TTRPG remember that you need to charge at least about 6x the cost to print for sustainability.

Small to midsize publishers can take advantage of scale & you can't.

You are not Wizards, Evil Hat, Exalted Funeral, or Modiphius.

Ideally charge 10x an pay a bill.

Any time I post things related to fitness, diet, or body dysmorphia, you can bet it is just as much a post for me.

My core isn’t as tone as I’d like but I’m a lot healthier than I was a year ago (and with a shitload more muscle tone - like a woah amount, and I’m proud of that).
