hatred of unhoused people is genuinely a pipeline to fascism. if the wealthy can get you to dehumanize your own neighbors, then they can get you to do it to anyone.

Fascism is a violent response to care crises. Care crises are economic crises. Economic crises are care crises.

How do we show up for care? How do we receive care? How do we give care? What are your barriers to receiving and giving care? What were you taught about care?

to be homeless is to be a hunted animal.
A second mass shooting of a homeless encampment in Minneapolis. Five more people died. Meanwhile, congress is working on passing the ability to jail homeless people for up to 30 days or charge them $500. It bans camping on public property. abcnews.go.com/US/people-hu...

I don't think people understand how executive function taxing it is to be homeless.

To be homeless is to be a hunted animal.

Know how I say that adoptees aren't believed when reporting abuse? Even though our rates of abuse are so much higher?

Anyhoo quite a few of us are getting really sick of the shock re: SA as the current discourse.

Homelessness is a fundamental violation of the social contract. It is a policy failure, NOT a personal individual failure.

They’re coming for the most vulnerable. If you punch down, ask yourself why. & then consider that integrity, kindness, & interconnectedness are the true immutable life values.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled that punishing a person for sleeping in public, even if they have nowhere else to go, doesn't violate the Eighth Amendment’s cruel and unusual punishment clause.

In the year since the decision, cities have passed nearly 220 bills criminalizing unhoused people.

This is what I fled with Esmé. This is why her acute heart failure and death hurt even more. We had just gotten out of there. I was finally able to keep her safer.

I am homeless. I need people who uplift me. People who abuse homeless women & ESA dogs with nowhere to go are the worst of the worst

i won’t get all of the likes or traction that Gwen Snyder did.

i can’t even fully fund an over year-old crowdfund as a survivor and having fled recent DV this past Nov. i cut my teeth on community organizing. i was very good at it. still homeless. Esmé’s still dead.

but yes.
the facts are:

people do not believe survivors.

there is a sickly, guilty embarrassment, a sort of, "why are you making a big stink out of nothing?" blame implied.

it's the emergence of denial, white supremacist racial capitalist patriarchy, and rape culture.

it's why people don't speak out.

people who experience violence, rape, and harm reserve the right to support and real community care. instead, society expects that we shoulder the costs of long-term—and often disabling—health effects of environmental insults, then blames us for our poverty and our failing health.
