Esmé, you will not come with me into the new year. But earlier today I heard—clear as a bell—your bark. I was not asleep. Thank you for visiting me. I love you forever.

hatred of unhoused people is genuinely a pipeline to fascism. if the wealthy can get you to dehumanize your own neighbors, then they can get you to do it to anyone.

when someone—human or nonhuman—dies, one of the worst parts is the missing. missing the ability to make new memories with them.

may all who grieve be comforted. may all who suffer transform it into creation and connection. may all things be protected and safe.

moreover, ICE must be destroyed

#mutualaid means digging deep and helping community members survive.

come on, folks-- PLEASE #donate.

also #boost this post far & wide. 🙏💸🫶
Some of the worst harms I’ve experienced in the past five years happened when I was homeless, and continue to happen now.

Please.

Like people really put up a mutual aid post on the internet because it feels great to be called lazy scammers. No, doo-doo heads, people hate putting those posts up & they do it because that's their option to survive.

i'm homeless and need to drive 200 miles roundtrip to pick up an RX at the nearest Costco to me.

i don't have health insurance and the Costco membership pays for itself with the pharmacy costs. a generic of the same medication at Walgreens is $1 a pill. a 90-day supply at Costco is ~$20.

Homelessness is a fundamental violation of the social contract. It is a policy failure, NOT a personal individual failure.

They’re coming for the most vulnerable. If you punch down, ask yourself why. & then consider that integrity, kindness, & interconnectedness are the true immutable life values.

To be homeless is to be a hunted animal.

Fascism is a violent response to care crises. Care crises are economic crises. Economic crises are care crises.

How do we show up for care? How do we receive care? How do we give care? What are your barriers to receiving and giving care? What were you taught about care?
