Do we do #introduction's on the butterfly app? Anyway, I'm Sean, Cloud Engineer/SRE at an EdTech company. Interested in #observability, #containers and the related glue. Based in #Sheffield. Outside of work I dabble in #homeautomation, #photograpy, #cycling, #bouldering and generally being #outdoors
@archtesta.bsky.social Good to chat to you at the Homebuilding show! ubakus.de was the site I mentioned, and this was the data I got about phase shift: bsky.app/profile/snhd... PIR was even worse than my memory served at 6.5hr. Not a replacement for WUFI but feels useful for a layperson.

Wishing wood fibre insulation was as readily available in the UK as it was in France (this was at Brico Depot). This is something I should be able to buy from B&Q or Wickes not limited to specialist suppliers where postage is 3x the item price in some cases.

They even stock wood fibre insulation batts, cellulose too. I’d have got some but i would have preferred 375mm wide

#passivehouse peeps, is the ~new "easyPH" compatible with #PHPP "Variants" worksheet? I see it's there but hidden, and I didn't see a mention in the manual.

Alternatively, is modeling in easyPH then exporting into the full variants sheet an option. NB: not being used for certification just fiddling

Spent an evening in Walkley at an SY Ecofit event. Chatting all things retrofit, insulation, moisture in buildings and also enjoyed this lovely curry.

Flat white, cheese toastie and the latest copy of Passive House Plus magazine. Solid bank holiday Monday activities.

Read this book at the weekend, would highly recommend to any homeowner, even if you aren’t planning a renovation. I especially liked this little illustration feat ASHP and solar panels.

If you're curious about comfortable and well performing housing, I can't recommend this episode enough! An incredibly accessible explanation for such a deep topic. Touches on: why housing is so poor; what the future could be and areas to focus on when improving your current home.
In my latest podcast I'm chatting to the Managing Director of 21 Degrees. He's got a beginner's guide to creating a comfortable home. Expect a bit of physics... but the good news we can do this! Andy explains how.

Idea: Feature Flags but so users can turn off all the nonsense they don’t care about in your app.

Looking for examples of people who've done an "AECB Step by Step Retrofit" but struggling to find anything. I know it's somewhat of a new standard and that's likely why. Ideally blog posts or forum posts from homeowners but curious to read anything.

🪪 My concerns about the Online Safety Act remain the same as when I last wrote about it nearly decade a decade ago when it was proposed as the Digital Economy Bill:

1) It normalizes uploading sensitive documents such as ID scans to random websites, which will likely increase identity theft.

Curious how much air tightness in housing helps with this current hot weather? Its help is reasonably common knowledge for cold and blustery weather in winter.

(Haven’t searched about it yet but the q just popped into my head, basically thinking out loud)

TIL my house has a built in summer storage heater.

Bay window is tiled and filled with single skin of brick. 33c at 11pm at night!

At the time of reading room temp was 26c and outside 21c.

I wrote something new! It’s a UI design history essay about Mac’s Control Panel, and it uses emulation in some… maybe new and maybe interesting ways?
