Surf scoters last night off the pier grabbing barnacles & mollusks to eat. I did not have my regular camera with me, but I was leaning over the side of the pier with my phone in my hand. A risky move. I don’t recommend it. One of my favorite winter visitors here in San Diego . 😂

I hear the theme of the day is black birds so why not post the genius of them all? I encountered this wonderful Raven yesterday morning in the desert. He was croaking from a lightpost. I spoke to him. Yeah I do that. He stopped & gave me a look. I kept walking and he resumed croaking. Corvid 🧡. 😃🪶
