85 species for my group, including the darlings of the Tijuana River Valley, 8 of these black throated magpie jays. Great birds but yucky light. I was out for 11 hours. 🪶

Damn. At least this morning I had good light and great surf. I went out to Sunset cliffs and saw some pelicans out there. Next time the plan will be to go there at about 3 o’clock on a sunny day stick around for the pelicans and have some blood orange margaritas after.

It will. It’s actually been pretty nice except for fog down here. Northern California is really in for it. I have a great birding team.

It’s exhausting. I am out the door before it’s daylight and it’s a 24 hour thing lots of hiking and getting dirty and listening for birds and then begging my husband to do the spreadsheet so I can put my feet up and have an adult beverage. 😂

I’m retired. It’s my job. Lol. Kept it a little more local yesterday and hung out at Coronado Landing and Tidelands Park in Coronado. Tomorrow I have to get serious and get up before dawn for the San Diego Christmas bird count.

You deserve some R&R. It’s been fantastic here but rain is coming in the coming days. San Diego Christmas count is tomorrow.

I didn’t know it was pelican Friday, but I have posted a few today. Kudos! For me, a day without pelicans is like a day without sunshine. 😂

He’s a looker. Tomorrow is the big San Diego Christmas bird count and I hope to see some of those.

I hope they mean it. My friends in Ocean Beach are like lost puppies without their pier. Of course the birds are digging it.
