After making some really good progress the last few days (and well over 250 hours in the last 5 months), I can happily say that I am 50% through getting all contracts/transactions since 2013 into spotrac
Bonus: there are only 96 players who were rostered w/o a release I was able to track down

This is the other layer when it comes to the back+forth btwn the fans, bc yes, it was copium! Even in recent times, the Field Tilt FC era was so funny. Some of em might be on here so I won’t do extra, but when those Arsenal analytics types were like “but the field tilt” after every L, it was great!
imo the pushback and laughter is about the cross we’re told they bear as the club that insists on playing football the right way, so it’s funny that it only took some consistent winning (not even a trophy!) for all that to be revealed as nothing but copium

Exactly. I think people are unhappy that we have an Arsenal FC that doesn’t settle for moral victories; that doesn’t just play pretty football to lose to shrewder, tougher, less naive teams via spectacular collapse. Now they’re the tough team to beat, and hatewatchers like me are starving smh
Honestly, at this point I just assume 99% of shit-talk about Arsenal when they’re playing well boils down to “I’m mad the guys I call bottlers aren’t bottling” (See also: the F1 subreddit after every single Lando Norris win)
