Old Geek. Old Greek. Left Twitter as it was making me feel ill.
Is there anything more 60s than this gorgeous Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD cover? Jim Steranko, Pop-Art genius.

Wonderful old photo of Cybermen in the 60s outside Ealing studios. Guessing they are waiting for the 65 bus. I’m guessing during the filming of Moonbase sequences. Love the pointy fingers.

JMW Turner’s fan art for The Horror of Fang Rock. Who knew? Turner and Constable at Tate Britain. Not sure that I’ve ever enjoyed an exhibition more than this.

Charles E. Martin’s cover for March 24th 1975.

I don’t know. Sometimes I still get completely baffled about who & what the culture lauds as Brilliant & Gallery-Worthy. Not because of what’s in the canon, but because of what’s not. Whatever. This takes my breath away.

“What was your #ChildhoodCinema?”

Muswell Hill Odeon in the 60s and 70s! Memories: falling onto the floor with laughter with my dad watching The Producers in an otherwise empty cinema; seeing a moon buggy in my first Bond; being entranced by Fantasia while the rest of my school said “It’s boring!”

Go and see Hamnet! It’s not an easy ride - I’ve never cried so much at a film. But it’s beautifully made and the performances are deeply moving. Unexpectedly, it has the best portrayal of the ghost of Hamlet’s father I’ve ever seen: not as an angry revengeful spirit but as a symbol of grief.

No one ever drew Christmas, Winter or Sussex better than Raymond Briggs. His work is so bittersweet, celebrating the ordinary person, family life and suburbia, yet oh so melancholy. He taught my dad at Brighton Art College and my father never stopped admiring his work.

As terrifying as the Hound of the Baskervilles, only with more fluff. All she wants for Christmas is a sausage.

Classic Japanese images of Winter: ethereal beauty and technical precision. The first, with the eagle, is by Hiroshige I believe. Apologies, can’t credit the next two.

Winter Solstice - random images. Love this day, can’t explain why. Genetic memory of pagan times? Remnants of Sun, Moon, Star worship? Seems oddly spiritual. 🤷‍♂️

Antique Toyshop, Copenhagen. Treading that fine line between charming and disturbing, which seems to be the natural Twilight Zone for old toys. Perhaps the shop is run by the Celestial Toymaker…
