"Maa says the injuries were more like what’s seen in motorcycle crashes."

That's because e-bikes are motorcycles.

I have been saying so for several years because i spent my 20s riding motorbikes.

SoCalGas is using *efficiency funding* collected from ratepayers to push LA wildfire survivors who lost their homes to build back with *gas* rather than all-electric.

Truly bleak stuff. This should not be allowed. Where are our regulators at the CPUC?

LA Wildfire Survivors Want to Rebuild All-Electric, but a Utility Is Using Customer Funds to Incentivize Gas Appliances - Inside Climate News
California’s utility regulator said it would eliminate ratepayer-funded incentives for gas appliances in new construction, but created an exception that allows rebates for them in wildfire rebuilds.

In the olden days, I used to argue online with people who didn't believe life, human or otherwise, evolved.

They were very much the same sort of people who dispute anthropogenic climate change. Engineers, chemists and the occasional physicist.

But, notably, never field or organismal biologists.

"The U.S. crossed the threshold of 35 gigawatts of battery installations this July and then passed 40 gigawatts in the third quarter . . ."

For context, peak demand today for the state of California, with 40 million people and the world's 4th largest economy, will be about 27 GW.

@canarymedia.com highlights a big milestone for U.S. grid storage: developers set a goal of 35 GW by 2025 — and the industry has already surpassed it. A notable moment for storage’s role in the power sector. 👏 👏 👏

I was stung by one of these hornets while hiking in the mountains above Kobe while in a high school there.
If I saw a "murder hornet," I'd be running in the other direction. But these wee frogs think they're tasty snacks—even though they get stung repeatedly while consuming them. That story and more from @science.org and science in this edition of #ScienceAdviser: www.science.org/content/arti... 🧪

Key takeaways from the @UCBerkeley study:
* Prescribed burns maintain large, fire-resistant trees and remove smaller “fuel ladder” vegetation that can drive high-intensity crown fires.
* While each burn releases CO₂ in the short term, treated plots showed higher long-term productivity.

I've been wondering about this.
New study shows a single 550-pound satellite (a new Starlink unit is larger, at about 1,800 pounds) can generate around 70 pounds of aluminum oxide nanoparticles. This floating metallic pollution may stay aloft for decades.
With hundreds of satellites launched each year and tens of thousands more planned
