In 2008 our financial institutions collapsed under their weight of their incompetence and avarice. Rather than sending the people responsible to jail we bailed them out with taxpayer money and made massive spending cuts to pay for it.

And we’ve NEVER recovered.
Bonuses on Wall Street are expected to break records this year as big bank profits soar.

Bubbles are everywhere - from tech stocks, to corporate bonds - and the banks are profiting.

But they won't be the ones to pay when the crash finally comes.

OK, a🧵: Our new paper studies workers' political consciousness in times of class demobilization.

We show there's more to workers' politics than right-wing resentment. Listening to workers, we reconstruct their moral critiques of money, power & recognition.

Everyone talks about the Religious Right + white supremacy when it comes to fascism - but what about the billionaire-funded libertarian right quietly reshaping politics?

That’s the focus of our new f&l blog entry by @nancymaclean.bsky.social !

„Just as Hitler advanced a militarized version of the austerity regime […] today’s European agenda of growing militarization at the expense of social welfare reveals a chillingly similar logic“ ▶️ see full text below

For the first time since WWII an extreme right party is #1 in the German polls. Anti-fascist economic policy is urgently needed.

Instead the new coalition agenda entails:
- cut profit tax
- end 8 hr workday
- open tap for defense, austerity for the rest
- weaken social security

NEW: White House says the arrest and deportation of student activist & legal US resident, Mahmoud Khalil, is a blueprint for more.

The final line here is chilling. The White House specifically says Khalil was not breaking the law.

No evidence, no due process, no crime. He was just disappeared.
