"We can disagree with each other and still be friends" does not apply if you're antisemitic or transphobic. Unfortunately, too many people on the left--people that I once thought were friends and allies--have shown themselves over the last year to be antisemitic and cut me out of their lives.

I don't consider Everything's Changed to be LGBTQ fiction, but seeing as how there's a global cosmic shift that impacts over 2% of the world population, it can definitely be viewed as a trans allegory or something like that.

I had to break up the story before getting to the international fallout.

They say to write what you know...so of course, I wrote a very Jewish sci-fi comedy that satirizes both DC and Hollywood--while having a main character go to bed one night covering sports (mainly baseball) and waking up the next morning to learn they're now covering politics.

If you’re old enough to remember Wag the Dog, congratulations: you’re also old enough to recognize when a White House is tossing a foreign military spectacle onto the national stage because the domestic plotline has become… inconvenient.
Wag the Dog Was a Warning, Not a Foreign Policy Blueprint
From the Epstein Files to oil-driven distractions, the Venezuela operation feels less like leadership and more like a rerun Americans were warned about decades ago.

James Vanderbilt’s feature directorial debut dramatizes the Killian documents controversy and the media fallout behind Dan Rather’s exit from CBS in Truth. I meant to watch this when it piqued my interest following Robert Redford's death. Who knew CBS News and 60 Minutes would have another scandal?

The Death of Robin Hood must imply the death of Robin Hood movies. Otherwise, it's lying.

There is a terrible history of Jew-hatred but there's no denying that they were inspired by eugenics laws that were in place in certain parts of America. This has been covered in many Holocaust history books I've read. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/q...

Me: I should be watching something to review for tomorrow morning.

Also me: That TV series looks like it could be something I might enjoy. Oh, it's eight episodes and doesn't premiere until January 22? LET'S PRESS PLAY!

Thank you, MLB Network, for rebroadcasting the 1995 Baltimore Orioles-California Angeles game in which Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig's record. I have chills again just watching the game.

They hate themselves. They hate transgender people, Jewish people, and Black people who don't do exactly what they say.

They turned on AOC. They're already turning on Mamdani.

Because in the end, they actually don't want progress.

Their entire identity is claiming they're oppressed.

in how many "law enforcement operations" are damn near 100 people killed?

Raja Shehadeh, we need to talk. Judaism is not just a religion, but an ethnoreligion that is indigenous to Eretz Yisrael. We are a race, a people--Am Yisrael. This is not up for debate. We pray thrice daily in the direction of the Kotel in Jerusalem. Jewish self-determination will not be denied.

I remember teaching a class about impact versus intent, and it doesn't matter if you said it was law enforcement if the whole rest of the planet thinks is a military action, but the current administration probably wasn't paying attention during EO or SHARP training, either.
The notion that the US military incursion into Venezuela and seizure of its leader wasn't a use of force under int'l law b/c it was a "law enforcement operation" is absurd.

In prior US military-LE capture ops abroad, USG definitely viewed such actions as uses of force under int'l law.

From 2014.

I'd like to say mazel tov to fellow Critics Choice Association member and industry legend Leonard Maltin on being awarded with the Critics Critic Award last night at the Critics Choice Awards Night-Before Party.
Happy birthday, @leonardmaltin.bsky.social!

I never met Siskel or Ebert, but meeting Leonard at the @legionmofficial.bsky.social lounge was one of the highlights of my first Sundance Film Festival in 2018. I'm so grateful that I've been able to see him many times through the years.

Your to-do list for 2026

1) Pick a Campaign in your corner of the country. Pick a Democrat you like no matter what the level.

2) Staff or Volunteer for that Campaign.

3) Vote in that Primary and General for your Democrat or another Democrat.

4) Get that Democrat and other Democrats elected.
