Speaker Johnson has literally said he's "not promising anyone anything."

For once, I believe him.

Democrats as a party need a lot more discipline. There ought to be pressure on who can run as a Dem (and who can't).

"Presidents usually want to show that they are taking great pains to end a government shutdown, and that they will force congressional leaders to come to the table and bargain their way out of gridlock.

Not so with Mr. Trump....

Sens Durbin, Rosen, Letterman, Castro, Shaheen, Hassan, Kaine, King caved when the pressure was finally strong enough to produce results. Everyone who endured the pressure of the last 40 days was let down. They have neutered their party for a year. But most of them arent running. Schumer failed us.

“Wow. Doesn’t get much more disrespectful than this,” right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson wrote on X, sharing the footage of Trump’s instant crowd reaction. Hey, Benny: T makes it plain he doesn't respect most Americans. They're just returning the favor.

I truly wish these people would stop caving to him!!

And so states must double down on these guys. This is the most corrupt administration we have EVER had, and history will hold us accountable if we dont do the same to these people.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

We are gonna get screwed is what. What are they thinking going forward on a promise from the very people known for breaking promises and even the law?
An agreement to agree to do a later vote is NOT an enforceable contract so what in the actual hell are Americans getting out of this deal??

Trump f*cking up holiday weekends, starving kids, throwing himself parties while the rest of us suffer and staring down the barrel at a tariffed Thanksgiving and Christmas might be thing that brings America together in despising him.

That and the Epstein files.

This is the worst thing I can imagine. They win by huge margins on Tuesday and they come away from that with:

We will make a deal without getting the single thing we said we had to win: extending ACA tax credits?

CEO pay has skyrocketed 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker wages rose just 24%. This disparity—fueled by neoliberal policy—has deepened inequality and contributed to declining U.S. life expectancy.

And they want more & more while we get less & less.

Corporations don’t pay enough to feed you and your family, so you use SNAP.

Then he punishes you for using SNAP instead of taking on the companies that don’t pay you what you’re worth.

We sometimes forget Trump is just an asshole boss. He always finds a way to blame workers.

It is appalling that we have elected people, who also then appointed people, who enjoy harming others. The many ways this shows up are surreal. We have to change this. We have to overcome it. It is not enough to deplore it.
