Should be going faster, but I'm pretty happy with how my project has progressed in the last year.
hopefully better health will let me actually get some hustle on in big 26.
Here's a fun memory saving I found.
The player sprite shares the block of VRAM used for the WINDOW table, but since she doesn't coexist with the pause menu, and the textbox only covers 1/3rd of the screen, there's a few hundred bytes free to use.

Giving NPC's the ability to talk seems to have unleashed all manor of havok on the rest of the game, previously event scripts ran at level-scope, but now everything can trigger one.

(first attempt at running the new code (gone wrong (why is the scrolling and sprite control broken?)))

I spent my holiday break implementing the first real mission structure for #Gilgamech and here is a preview of Mission 1-1 with a peak of 1-2 at the end.

If you're doing a temporal dither effect (1 frame off, 1 frame on, relying on screen/eye to blend), consider using 1px vertical lines and adding the camera x pos, so instead of (frame % 2) it's ((frame + camera.X) % 2), really helps with scrolling.

impossible to video demo, take my word for it.

Rewrote my palette handler, so now the game has 1 or 2 free lines going, it doles them out to active entities that request it.

See green monster in pic 1;
neutral position far from any props in 2;
playing with a see-saw in 3;

still getting a bug where 50% of the time posting an image to this site results in a black rectangle, _very_ annoying, it's something webgl related.

I do technically have a master system/gamegear project on the boil but it's turning out to be a technical disaster and devkitSMS's banking functionality breaks by mental understanding of the C linker system so I was trying to squeeze it under 64kb (fail)

In 2025 I released two new SEGA Master System games and started work on another.

Added an animation/sequencer system that temporarily hands the entire game state over to a script so it can go in and manipulate objects positions and states.

It's linked in with both the cutscene system and used for some game events, testing here with the player saved from falling into a hazard;

Bit more work needed before it's really a complete game, but this is coming together nicely.
I massively sped the line code up, actually surprised it can hit 30fps with all these things littering the stage without having to use any assembly. #sgdk #gamedev
