A Chicago Judge Sara Ellis has ruled that ICE be prohibited from using tear gas, pepper spray, or weapons against peaceful demonstrators and journalists in northern Illinois. The ruling is for 2 weeks until she about an injunction. She said ICE actions “clearly violate the constitution."

Chicago Judge Perry said some of "the violence appeared to be instigated by federal agents...“indiscriminately gassing” peaceful protesters outside the Broadview center". She noted several cases where the charges of citizens assaulting agents were dismissed after video was consulted.

In her ruling Judge Perry said National Guard troops aren't “trained in de-escalation or other extremely important law enforcement functions that would help to quell these problems,” and that bringing troops into Chicago “will only add fuel to the fire that the defendants themselves have started.”
