Hey, I worked on this! I didn't open the Unity editor a single time, but I did use it as an excuse to get back into writing music for the first time in YEARS. Including learning Ableton from scratch, since it was time to move on from Reaper.

Oh also if anybody plays it, do know that we spotted that the ingame Credits and Instructions have their back button broken so it counts as a softlock.

The Keyboard Controls also aren't optimal, especially for a web build. Controller preferred!

We probably won't be able to fix it until Wednesday 👍

Because I simply can't stop, I also did a game jam this weekend.

(More like I signed up for suff and forgot they were all close lol)

The theme was "mundane" so we made a game about cleaning up leaf piles. But also if those piles fought back.

I've shown this effect before, but there's something else that's cool about it. There's nothing stopping me from placing these fake windows in front of walls. This is how the doors to other maps work. I didn't model any openings.

I also just finished Swordtember, an art challenge where you make 1 sword-related artpiece a day!

This year I made a brand new FULLY RIGGED 3d character every day for 30 days!

These are the kinds of shenanigans I like to get up to.
A winter-themed character in ice skates and a thick fluffy parka poses with an ice-tipped spear. She has blue hair and skin, and a long braid. On her head is an indigo crown, and her hair braid ends in ice and a pearlescent crystal. A Ring-themed character poses with her 3 chakram. One in hand, one spinning on a finger, and the third floating behind her. Her torso seems to be some kind of gas giant with planetary rings. The rest of her body that isn't covered by clothing glows bright blue. She seems to have goggles built into her suit that cover her eyes. A Carved-themed golem lumbers forward. It's gorilla-like face is embedded in a carved cylinder of dark granite, along with the rest of its body. Emebedded in various points are power lines, power crystals, and a blue diamond in its chest. It carries a mysterious blue greatsword on its shoulder. A Harpy-themed character design flaps her wings. She is pink and birdlike, with yellow accents in some of her feathers. She has a mohawk of feathers on her head and is strategically covered in bronze/steel armor. As she has no hands, she carries a heavy double-ended greatsword in both of her talons.

I have a few games I'm working on, and I post about game jams a lot - but you'll mostly see me posting bright low/midpoly 3d art and the occasional 3d print!
A high-res version of Hoodie Girl, the main character from the game Super Perspective. A young girl in a cat-eared knitted hoodie-dress with green tassels at the end, gray shorts, and leather high-tops. Magical Girl Dinogun, from the Game Jam game Hyper Cannoneer Dinogun. A vicious toothy green dinosaur in a bronze crown and dull pink dress (with yellow shouldercoat) wields a dinsoaur skull with 6 blue eyes containing an undersling gatling cannon.

The skull seems just as excited to be here as the dinogirl is. Ice Warrior, from the game Project Ukemi. A 7 foot ABSOLUTELY JACKED leopardess lady stands in a military camo winter parka with *the sleeves ripped off*. She is covered in ice armor, and her bare arms can be seen through the ice itself. On her left arm is an ice shield. On her back is a heat sink device of some sort. Her boots have spiked steel toes.

And her hood covers her face in a void darkness except for her red eyes and cheshire grin. A tree frog wizard who was converted his staff into a hoverboard does a sick kickflip.

He has green skin and yellow eyes, and his outfit is a sleeveless blue vest, yellow shorts, a blue wizard hat, and yellow/blue high tops. His "staff" has a green crystal at the end.

I use constraints on big sleeves and other meshes near the hands to avoid having to weight things to the arm directly!!

If applied well it does help a good amount when i'm rigging outfits!!!✨✨

Oh, yeah that's fair.

I usually do everything with lowpoly techniques even if I uprez it later. For super fast loose stuff like this I make a lowpoly base and then use subdivs/bevels so my displacement and edge detection can look good.

I couldn't do true <1k vert models this fast, no way lol

I dunno, lots of reuse and a TON of practice is the key. Edits of the same skeleton, material sharing, part reuse, lots of texture capture to skip making stuff...

But also I've been practicing making lowpoly characters fast for a LOOONG time too. It's my specialty.

Each year I've been escalating what I do for this project and I don't think making this more complicated is gonna be better.

Plus doing less means I get to do things besides make art. This was pretty much my only hobby for a month. Not burnt out, but I sure do miss all that other stuff.
