Look, I am very small potatoes as an author. I make too little in royalties to live off them. But I can tell you the reason I got to write my 2nd book was bc the sales of the 1st were very good. That's what else you're eating into by pirating, our ability to keep writing what you claim to love.

Anecdotal, but in June a pal returned from Glastonbury and Wimbledon, comically sunburned from both. "Ha!" I said, "remember when we were kids, every year it was mudbaths at the main stage and rain-stopped play on centrecourt? That was the *whole* deal with both those things- oh right jesus fuck".

As previously, I was moaning about my list of everything I read between 1994 and 2020.. for tedious and obvious reasons my list kind of died at that point, let's not go over it! ANYWAY I said "The problem with starting again is, my first book in '94 was To the Lighthouse*.

We all know Liam meant "a good thing," and it is a good thing.
A goof thing for writers to know is that their work is valuable, not just in a financial sense but in a storytelling sense. Imposter syndrome be damned. You are a unique collection of atoms with a brain all of your own.

I'm reading 'Nightmares and Dreamscapes' by Stephen King. It's a few years since I read something of his, I think, and I've enjoyed reacquainting myself with his storytelling mastery. I feel like I've been reading short story's for a good few weeks though, so I may pick up a proper novel next.

No lies detected.
You got wormfished by a guy who eats roadkill and looks like fucking Krang. A guy you were tasked with covering neutrally, for half a milly a year, while he ran for fucking president on an "every disabled person should die" ticket.

Well, now your career is back, and so is measles. Well done.
