I, personally, love nice surprises, but I have friends who hate them, so even if in my heart I want to surprise them with a gift because I think that's fun, I ask them point blank if it's okay to give a gift, and tell them exactly what it is.

It's been less than 100 years since our culture said blue was for girls. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm tired of having pink forced on me. You can embrace it if you want. It takes all kinds of humans & I don't mind one bit if you enjoy it; I just care that I have to have it slapped on me again and again

I had to fight my teachers in elementary school to let me choose the water pattern for my book. It was in the "boys colors", and they initially told me I couldn't have it and had to choose from the big pile of pink flower covers.
"That's sexist", my 4th-grade self said. They relented.

This is going to sound stupid, but there's something a little hard about being a woman and having your favorite color be blue, in a society that has decided that color is not for you, and another color will always, ALWAYS represent you
