You can tell who genuinely appreciated music growing up because as a teenager who had a “rebellious” phase through the entirely of my teens, I never reduced the Beatles (or any band from my parents’ generation) down to being just “a band my parents liked so that makes them uncool.”
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

Shout out to my man Pieter Bruegel the Elder. You would’ve loved painting about politicians and reporters sleeping with each other.

pretty remarkable how in the 33 years since this released we’ve gotten so many paint-by-numbers shoegaze albums that follow the same formula over and over and this one still sounds fresh and new.

heavy use of acoustic guitars, clean vox tracks, string sections. more of this please.

I can’t say anything about the Stone Roses s/t that hasn’t already been said.

It’s the greatest 60s album the 60s never produced.

Ah yes, I missed the random train stopping at a station for 10-15 minutes because the doors won’t open and close properly. Never change CTA.

"I'm a liberal because I stand for liberty. I'm a conservative because I want to conserve the environment. I'm a progressive because I stand for progress"

We really need to stop letting people get away with redefining words.

I don't care if this was supposed to be a joke or not.

This is dumb.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

2009 was a good year. I had AnCo, Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, the National, and Deerhunter and I was set.

From a debut album filled with fuzzy, garage-rock-distorted punk covers and longform jams to concise, psych pop originals, cleaned-up songwriting and a much wider sonic landscape on album #2.

Perfect Prescription was where Pete and Jason really flexed their songwriting chops for real.
