Good morning from McFarland Lake (Minnesota Forestry) and Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area (US Dept of Interior). Not sure whose land the camper is on but it was an hr+ drive on dirt roads to get here. 🤷‍♀️ State campgrounds are booked solid.

Exactly. Had not crossed my mind. 🫡 @connerkerrigan.substack.com for bringing up depreciation.

St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Monday will break ground on a new airfield maintenance and snow removal equipment facility, an important step before the larger project begins. Also buried in the business journal story are the vendors for the larger terminal project 👀
In 2024, the airport's airlines authorized another $650 million in spending on the single-terminal project. That's for an eventual reopening of Concourse D and part of Concourse C in Terminal 1, as Concourse A carriers would be forced to move because of
construction. Other projects include the demolition of vacant buildings, as well as project architectural design.
The vendors for the overall project now are:
HOK for terminal design; HDR for roadway and new parking garage architecture;
AECOM Hunt and Clayco for construction management of the terminal; Alberici and Tarlton for roadway construction; and Kwame Building Group and WSP as program
manager.

Of all the wretched, oily scum that are getting their sick fixes out of the invasion of our state, this hideous freak is definitely one of the most unnerving.

Wow. Greg Bovino admits on camera that his agents can detain people if you look scared, change your demeanor, or grip a steering wheel too tight.

As his unmasked agents walk around with large guns to scare you, they may arrest you just for that — even if you're a U.S. citizen.

Why is no one talking about who Alders & Board of E&A will appoint as next St. Louis City Sheriff?
stateofstlouis.bsky.social
St. Louis City Sheriff Montgomery refuses to do his job, should be removed

State Law says County Commission fills vacancy. State Law also says County Commission in City = Mayor, Comptroller, Alders

Alders need to get off their asses and send voters amendments to write County offices into Charter

Thoughts on St Louis City Data Center controversy from @connerkerrigan.substack.com

"Data centers cost a lot, don’t create many (permanent) jobs, and are being built to house hardware that depreciates every three to five years at best. None of these are qualities of good long-term investments."
connerkerrigan.substack.com
There's no future in data centers. The City of St. Louis should reject any proposal to build a new one within the city's borders.

What would prevent City of St. Louis from operating a revenue stream called a liquor store?

I have missed so much bad news while traveling in one bar, low quality cell service country.

One such story.

ICE left David, a 17-year-old boy, stranded on the side of Interstate 20 after pulling over his immigrant father, Hector, in Mississippi.

David began running in the scorching sun after the car and watched as it disappeared from sight—soon headed to a Louisiana ICE prison.

Here's their story.

"We're also hoping this new generator will reduce his daily fuel costs. And it's way quieter too, which Larry's dog, Patches, is thankful for!"

Donate what you can to help Larry & Tony's Food Corner in St Louis 🌪 ravaged North City keep doing the good work.

Larry's generator gave out before he did, but, thanks to donors like you, we were able to save the food in the freezers (and give his dog Patches some quieter background noise!). Check out the latest update at our GoFundMe page for a group of volunteers serving North St. Louis.

🧵 on some bullshit by Data Center consultant

I wish I had an opportunity on this road trip to track all the electric company, developer/lobbyist, construction union, Civic Progress dba Greater St. Louis 💰 money to City electeds but I don't.

1/4 These schemes come here because SB4 obligates residents to pay for new power plants, capacity that would mostly be used by the data centers.

- THO repeatedly said the 500 Prospect Ave project won't raise bills, but *utility regulator* PSC says the opposite. www.stlpr.org/economy-busi...

If you are in the STL area you might get a data center construction survey via text. It appears to be pro-large data centers and even throws in some MAGA dog-whistles, like how data centers are good for First Responders and police, and will lower your taxes. Get it hell. ☠️
Opinions on data centers. Unfavorable in most locations in a city.

T. Patten Cafe, the donut place, had pony art, a table for locals to work on jigsaw puzzles, and some things for sale that I have no idea what they are.
Four foot wide painting of horses on prarie Jigsaw puzzle spread out over table Table with crafts for sale. I don't know if they are jewelry or nicknacks. I don't know if they made or plastic, paper mache, clay, or ceramic,

The enormity is breathtaking. Water for as far as the eye can see.

Also did not stop at Beaver House in Grand Marais MN

It was a bait shop.

It's now a liquor store owned by... City of Grand Marais.

Stopped briefly at Grand Marais (French, Great Marsh), stolen land of the Ojibwe, who called it Gichi-biitoobiig, great duplicate water, reference to 2 bays that form this Lake Superior harbor

Didn't stop in World's Best Donuts since we know the best are at John's or Donut Drive-In in St. Louis
