Average 1st time buyer is 40. A 50 year mortgage is economically stupid, and is the concept of home ownership really the American Dream we think it is?

That sounds awesome! I don't smoke, don't dip, drink rarely, very much not over weight, but I have degenerative eye conditions. Where do I fit in? Do I get the discount or the higher premium???/
Markwayne Mullin on healthcare: "What the president would like to do is say, hey, if you take care of yourself -- you don't smoke, you don't dip, you're not drinking, you're not overweight, you're working out -- then you should pay less than the guy that obviously is not taking care of himself."

I'm so blessed & thankful to live in a walkable neighborhood on days like today when it's been a very rough vison day but my wife asks me to go pick up a few items from the grocery store. At my old house I would be stuck with Uber/Taxi as only option, but here I can just walk a few blocks!

Saying the quiet parts out loud. US Oil just wants to steal Venezuelan's oil!
Rep. Salazar on Venezuela: "We're about to go in ... we need to go in ... Venezuela for the American oil companies will be a field day"

I've talked about my problems reading paper books due to vision issues before. Found a signed copy of a book I have been wanting to read for a while the other day & it's hard to read. This is where my Magna Pro led magnifier saves the day giving the assistance I need in an easy to use tool!

This is a good idea. A few years ago I interviewed three year round bicycle riders to find out what they wear in the winter. Their list may differ from yours or David's but is a good start. Check it out. e-bikekc.com/2019/11/06/b...

Time to fill out the Kansas City Resident Survey to let KCMO know what I think of their services and state of the city.

Talking about perfect timing: Aventon launched an e-bike trade-in program last Friday. They are offering riders a $200 bonus when trading-in an e-bike, *including Rad Power Bikes*, toward a new Aventon. It appears that the trade-in credit might be able to be stacked with Black Friday deals as well

I just got my copy, can't wait to read it as Kansas City goes to war with cars by installing a whopping 60 lane miles of bike lanes out of 6,000 lane miles! @thewaroncars.bsky.social

My response to this Letter to the Editor complaining about new bicycle lanes was published yesterday.

I fear KC is going to see displacement on a massive scale come World Cup as resident leases are not renewed in order to make way for short term profits.

Once you see it, you see it everywhere. car parts/debris make up the majority of litter on our streets.

While I don't agree with TV show persona Duffy on why, I do agree that people should stop wearing PJs on trains and airplanes. Not because it leads to anger & crime, but because you look stupid. Have some self respect, & respect others & the public space around you.

Today was lovely to ride bikes and shop for others. We had a great turnout as hundreds showed up to the event. We even set a new money donation record. Food donation numbers will come later! #CranksgivingKC

For all the bitching & moaning about road diets & bike lanes, something I never hear is drivers complaining about on street parking taking away traffic lanes. Case in point, Meyer Blvd is 4 kane but effectively 2 lanes due to all the parking. Also everyone here has massive driveways, why park here?

Rode the new Broadway Blvd configuration today and wow it's not even finished and already a noticeable difference in feeling of improved safety and flow. The new angled parking gave me room to ride without traffic pressure while the two way cycle track is being finished on the other side! 🚲👍

It's painful to read plans from a century ago that perfectly formulate how to build a world class transit system yet today we still need years of redundant studies to even build a bus lane

I'm a really slow rider and there are absolutely places in KC where I have to switch to sidewalks because people in cars will behave in very, very unsafe ways around me. there's no winning when there are no cycling lanes: i'm either slowing down traffic or i'm scaring pedestrians.
A cyclist on a sidewalk is usually a symptom of bad infrastructure.

As I often say, cyclist vs. pedestrian conflicts arise because both are fighting over the scraps of space not occupied by cars. But what if we took that space from cars to make biking, walking, and rolling safer?
my hot take as a full-time pedestrian and transit rider is that i want cities to do the absolute maximum amount to provide cyclists with safe and protected bike lanes everywhere so that i don't have to feel the least bit bad for kicking one off the sidewalk into the street
