In the wake of an unambitious & underwhelming policy agenda by @albomp.bsky.social that fails to address structural issues in society & the unabated march of inequity - the signs of working class discontent are surfacing, as support for the grievance harvester Pauline Hanson surges.
Wake up!

The gradual politicisation of the public service has removed any prospect of frank and fearless advice to the government. A truly retrograde step. Maybe at my age I view this through rose tinted glasses .
100%
And the same archaic fiefdoms in the Public Service, the Australian Sir Humphreys, unelected & largely unknown, running things the way they want them to be.

Today's Liberal Labor deal to try and criminalise those speaking up against genocide is deeply dangerous but it will not silence us.

What a shame. Did anyone ask if we wanted it or did the expectation of dollars get in the way?

I’d like to know the answer too.

We need a #secular humanist political movement
8 weeks in Australia have been taken up with religious division and political division.
8 weeks on religion.
8 weeks on whose deity is better when 40% of us have no religion.
This is just a load of BS and needs to stop.

The good law, gun reform, was passed with the Coalition voting against it and Greens for it. The bad law, racial vilification, was passed with the Coalition voting for it (some Nats excepted) and Greens against it. Neat encapsulation of the social utility of each party.

Former Tory MP Craig Williams turned up at Southwark Crown Court today (Jan 20). He and more than a dozen others are facing charges over illegal betting linked to the timing of the 2024 general election - and he’s trying to get the case thrown out.

Australian politics used to be a relatively serious pursuit, with most participants taking their responsibilities seriously. That is no longer so. Mostly now they range from mindlessly corrupted to actively clownish in their behaviour. One thing we don't get anymore, as a result, is good laws.

Anonymised as replies/quotes were disabled, but you did vote for this. Like the frog in the pot of boiling water you let your political system (which you voted for), over years, to degrade to such a point that this happened. Take responsibility FFS. And I’m Australian not European. #trump

People are focused on "Make Heaven More CROWDED," suggesting that more people need to die.

But the slogan also underscores how Christian Nationalists fail to think through their theology. Heaven can only become more crowded if their supposedly all-powerful God lacks the power to expand it.
