Writing about software and the energy transition: https://software.energy
Energy flexibility is becoming a standard way of operating an electricity grid. By orchestrating DERs to reduce demand or export electricity we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and make energy cheaper.

Liebreich: Generative AI – The Power and the Glory | BloombergNEF
This year will go down in history as the year the energy sector woke up to AI. This is also the year AI woke up to energy. Is the data center power frenzy just the latest of a long line of energy sect...

This is a great piece about how software can help quicken the process for adding renewable energy sources to the grid by @jeffstjohn.bsky.social : www.canarymedia.com/articles/tra...
This DOE-backed software is helping to unclog the grid
GridUnity’s software can shave 12 months from the sluggish interconnection process that’s stalling clean power. A $50M DOE grant is helping it expand.

Historically the electricity grid has been a top-down, centralised system. This is now changing due to DERs, EVs and battery storage. We need new software solutions to handle the changing grid such as Advanced Distributions Management Systems (ADMS).
