If you’re not following @marcuskolga.bsky.social and @disinfowatch.bsky.social, you don’t know what bad foreign actors are constantly feeding Canadian and US social media with fake “grassroots” news, cheerfully amplified by the gullible. #cdnpoli

Wow. The AI bot farms are working overtime today convincing us that Nobel Peace Prize winner Machado is the embodiment of evil and Carney gave Trump a sensual foot massage. Know when you are being played, people. #cdnpoli

Good news!

“Canada's economy added 60,000 jobs in September, beating expectations with gains largely led by the tariff-vulnerable manufacturing sector, Statistics Canada said on Friday.”

So sad to see my friend Heather Mallick @hmallick.bsky.social of the Toronto Star retiring her talented pen. Her wit and wisdom will be truly missed. I hope she pops in from time to time and graces us with her sparkling takes. Thanks for sharing.

ICYMI - yesterday's podcast. The importance and possible death of Canada Post. The ANTIFA bogeyman. Carney's long, long game. The search for political quick fixes. And more. Have a listen. #cdnpoli #USpoli

NEW PODCAST! Steven Kerzner and I talk about Canada Post's possible swan song. Has the world moved on from stamps and cards? Plus Carney's polite visit with Trump while the White House's terrorizing of the American public continues. Have a listen. #cdnpoli #USpoli www.podbean.com/ew/pb-tk7nn-...
WHY CANADA IS A BETTER COUNTRY THAN USA & MORE - small L liberals
The differences between Canada and the US as functioning democracies keep widening, and the reasons are baked-in to our history. Plus, Carney's handling of Trump and Canada Post can't read the room.  ...

In 1936 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Carl von Ossietzky, a German pacifist convicted of high treason for exposing German re-armament. At the time of the award he was in a concentration camp. As a result Hitler banned any German from accepting a Nobel Prize and created his own German prize.

⚡️The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Maria Corina Machado.

The Nobel Peace Prize committee awarded it for "her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela."

Items of interest or value are registered with Canada's Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner and forfeited to the Crown. Sometimes they end up in offices, official residences, archives, or museums, or stored by a government agency. I don't know what happens to a bottle of olive oil.

Harper tried it, and even though he appointed a majority of justices, they still constantly ruled against his right wing agenda when challenged in court. It's almost magical how Canadian judges feel no allegiance to party or ideology once appointed.

All judges in Canada (including the Supreme Court) are subject to the rules of and discipline by the independent Canadian Judicial Council. Their handbook is very specific, and even a whiff of impropriety in Canada usually results in resignation before discipline. I wrote an article about it.

Probably not. The Canadian federal Conflict of Interest Act govern gifts (& provincial equivalents). It's so Canadian that a box of chocolates, cookies, and a gift basket have been found to be against the gift rules. #cdnpoli www.fasken.com/en/knowledge...
