"He has zero talent, musically." I reviewed the Netflix Diddy documentary for Living Life Fearless livinglifefearless.co/2026/film-tv...
Netflix’s 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning' is a Questionable Documentary About a Questionable Man » LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
Sean Combs: The Reckoning, while raising some ethical alarm bells, is nevertheless a fairly complete telling of this horrible man.

I reviewed Jim Jarmusch's FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER, and lamented that its release was totally botched stephensilver.substack.com/p/father-mot...
‘Father Mother Sister Brother’ is Jim Jarmusch’s moving meditation on family
Jarmusch’s first film in over six years tells three different stories about fractured families.

Most dystopian stuff I saw last week (always a competition) - Renee Good haters sharing a fake rap sheet that listed her age as 35 and her birth year as 1980.

It was the low quality that got me; audience so ready to believe "she deserved it," doesn't care if the math on the hoax doc is right.

This is exactly what they deserve.
ICE agents stopped by protesters after the shooting an observer in Minneapolis, according to witnesse. ICE deployed pepper spray and tear gas.

I also wrote for Living Life Fearless about a stupid game of Internet telephone last weekend, in which it was widely aggregated/reported that Netflix had decided on theatrical windows livinglifefearless.co/2026/film-tv...
No, Netflix Has Not Promised a 17-day Theater Window  » LIVING LIFE FEARLESS
At the heart of Netflix's expected takeover of Warner Bros. is the question about the company's plans for movie theater releases.

I wrote about... everything this week. The ICE killing, Minneapolis (again) as battleground, why it's bad to falsely accuse people of murder, our appallingly racist vice president, and a few movie things too. stephensilver.substack.com/p/fin-from-h...
Fin: From Hitchcock to Tim Walz, it’s really bad to falsely accuse people of murder
Thoughts on false murder conspiracies, the killing of Renee Nicole Good, Minnesota, and a tragic and difficult week. And, a few movie things.

Per governing WWE precedent, if Machado attempts to hand the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump it's actually deemed vacant, and will be contested at the next WrestleMania.

(Said precedent being Andre->DiBiase 1987, and since Trump is a WWE Hall of Famer he's bound by this. ht: @stephensilver.bsky.social)
“The president also said it would be a "great honor" if Machado decided to give him the Nobel Peace Prize she won last year.”

Various outlets have done frame-by-frames of the video confirming that Good was turning away from the ICE agents when she was shot, but you can just look at the agents themselves. Nobody is lunging out of the way like they think a car is barreling toward them.

I reviewed the outstanding THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER, opening wider on Friday stephensilver.substack.com/p/the-chrono...
‘The Chronology of Water’ is an assured directorial debut from Kristen Stewart
Stewart’s adaptation of Lida Yuknavitch’s memoir is not an easy watch, but it’s very well-acted and even more audacious.

No one who treated "wear a mask when you enter this store" as horrific tyranny actually believe in deference to state authority.

It's Schmittian friend-enemy politics all the way down. "We" should be able to do whatever we feel like without consequence. "They" should be harassed, repressed, killed.

Is the hope that the owners have some sort of epiphany that there's no such thing as Israeli cuisine and simply stop? I mean they're free to decide that, but then there's no Breads Bakery.
The Train Has No Brakes: "Breads Bakery employees unionize, call for end to Jewish Israeli owners’ ‘support for the genocide in Gaza’" (including ... catering Jewish food events and baking cookies with the Israeli flag on them).
