intellectuals such as myself refer to mega man x6 as “undeadline-likes” or “jinmu denshou clones”
stereoproject.bsky.social
oomf can i get you on jinmu denshou... i need to give you a second problem child game so x6 can have less attention...

yes, i will proudly rate something like timecop over a game like alundra (sorry to anybody who likes this game). i think about timecop all the time for being so painful yet interesting. but the latter even with 4 hours of play truly left 0 impression on me. theres no greater misery than boredom
stereoproject.bsky.social
even if they don’t play particularly great to me they play out in an interesting enough manner to actually make me enjoy my time even if a little bit or to find them memorable. if they were truly terrible i wouldnt even be able to go through them ever again or even think about them.
stereoproject.bsky.social
ironic enjoyment isn’t necessarily real. theres lots of games that play terribly i always think about but i appreciate them for existing because of that. they’re different, they’re absurd. and in that absurdity comes humor. i may not find it “fun” but it brings another positive emotion out of me
stereoproject.bsky.social
scores are stupid by the way, but the same applies to if someone where to say a bad game > mediocre game. like idk. people insist they think games are art yet sure don’t act like it. let go of rules. reflect on things. if it brings you some sort of joy it’s clearly doing something right
stereoproject.bsky.social
i think people being unable to recognize that their feelings will always matter more than their perception of a “good” video game is what leads to people making silly thinkpieces like: “a 5/10 is way less interesting than a 1/10” like. Dude. The 5/10 in question *is* a 1/10 to you

I plan to make these out of acrylic keychains or standees. Maybe stickers as well if anybody's interested.

proud of them. the people fake fearmongering about censorship and saying "ohhh ohhh what's next gta?" can keep crying in those forums lmao

made a post abt this the other day but as someone who's going through ff5 i can see why it's so loved. cool game. i gotta get to live a live some day

this is where most people would say "yeah this is my guilty pleasure" but i'm not ashamed to admit vibe games win me over sometimes. but i don't just appreciate them for that, i like seeing the good they do, even if the good in question is smaller than i'd like it to be. kaze kiri is cool
stereoproject.bsky.social
cause of my topsters earlier i replayed kaze kiri. undeniably my favorite potential man. game that feels like it's missing a fuckton when it comes to being an actually great beat'emup but i still can't help appreciate it for being unique and giving me a different experience than most in the genre
Kaze carrying and saving Shizuhime from a burning building, falling down Kaze and Shizuhime staring out into the sunset
stereoproject.bsky.social
it's great. honestly impressed with how fun a beatemup could be with what little amount you can perform. it's the fast pacing that really glues the combat and gallery/running sections together to be a good time
stereoproject.bsky.social
played the remake and i very much appreciated the co-op mode but it's also only good because the original already is just *that good*
stereoproject.bsky.social
sorry for blowing up your notifs but i think if i were to recommend a play order it'd be like trying out ninja warriors (snes) first and looking up the more advanced yet fairly digestible moveset. it teaches you what to do well on a single plane. then you could try out sor2/final fight 3
stereoproject.bsky.social
and if you are grabbing straight ahead also jab inch jab inch until you're close enough to come into contact with the enemy and grab them.
stereoproject.bsky.social
using aerial attacks can be safer for more aggressive enemies, but it's bad to spam them cause they're not that good at dealing big damage. specials consume health and usually also do weak damage so they're meant to be used when you're totally surrounded.
stereoproject.bsky.social
control. if we're going by final fight 1 era movesets. holding down in the air is good to stun an enemy, that can lead into a grab, you can jab twice then throw them forward/back in the direction of other enemies or just hit them a full three times to knock them down. stuff like that
stereoproject.bsky.social
around that. i think knowing what your character is capable of doing helps a lot. like fighting games theres some universal knowledge that can always help. e.g. knowing to jab twice while holding an enemy then throwing for extra damage. but sometimes you need to throw immediately to regain crowd-
