An Orb spider wrapping its lunch #MacroMonday #Macro #MacroPhotography #Spiders #Nature

Viewed from below the thorax and abdomen of this Orb spider is visible while much of its head is concealed behind a wasp that it has captured and is now wrapped in spider silk. Six of the spiders legs are alos visble as are parts of its web. The spider is a mix of shades of brown beige and orange and it stands out from the out of focus leafy green background.

Viewed from above this seed head has some dark outer leaves sourrounding a circle of fat dark brown seeds wihich in turn surround an inner group of thin lighter brown seeds.

No photo today, just words. I often find myself pondering upon time, I guess that happens when confronted by death, not only of those close to me, but the deaths of so many around the world occurring every single second. Gives pause to recognise the fleetingness of life, and not to squander it. 🕊️

Sadly I doubt that lesson will be learnt until we have consumed every habitable open space and killed off nearly all wildlife. We already know the harm we are doing but lack the collective will to make the urgent changes required to prevent ruining Earth for future generations.
