Met so many cool people already and only two days into the week. Loving GCAP this year, especially after missing last year!

Stoked to be back at GCAP after missing it last year. Great to see all the awesome things happening in the Aussie gamedev space. If you see me around come say hey!

Eek just realised the GCAP app was different so I missed a bunch of invites and DMs till just now 😬

All Unity devs - read this, vulnerability in certain Unity builds across a bunch of platforms - Sounds like a relatively straightforward fix with version specific patches to rebuild and redeploy.

Yeah I never realised why Ultima IX was so bad until recently

I was literally just watching a great video essay on some ultima games yesterday that spoke to this and it made me so sad.

These are just the things EVERY generation says about the previous. Just google ‘millennials aren’t ready for the workforce’ and see basically the same article 100 times from about a decade earlier.

I just drew a quick lil cowboy ant in pen this morning, for no particular reason. I’m pretty happy with him.

Getting my head around cancellation tokens and awaitables in Unity at the moment. In that great Dunning Kruger moment where I have it working, but I don’t fully understand what’s I’ve made haha.

Not all art or even all products are for everyone and that’s fine, that’s what makes gaming interesting. There’s different things for different reasons, and people can make whatever they want to make.

I played Hollow Knight cause of it’s hype, thought it was excellent, but I am too time poor to get gud enough to beat it. I’ve still recommended it to heaps of people, though I know it’s not for me (and I skipped Silksong for the same reason).

I agree with this, there’s more games out there than anyone can ever play these days too. I don’t agree that every expression and experience needs to be made for everyone, and any creator can make what they want.

Hitting up a different kind of book to what I usually read. Found this one hanging out on the bookshelf and couldn’t resist the cover, no idea what I’m going to be in for here…

If I’m understanding correctly what an information game is then maybe:

- Orwell
- Case of the Golden Idol
- Obra Dinn
- Chants of Sennaar
- Paradise Killer
- Outer Wilds

The amount of stuff AI just makes up in its code is wild. Be very wary with letting AI touch code, especially if you don’t understand what it’s changing. You gotta pretend its the most jnr dev pushing code right into your repo.
