Temporal is the Date system we always wanted in JavaScript. It's extremely close to being available so Mat Marquis thought it would be a good idea to explain exactly what is better about this new JavaScript date system.

This is the best 2025 year-end wrap up post I've read. Honest and unflinching on calling out global issues, while managing to be inspiring and hopeful for the future.

"Spend less time scrolling timelines and chasing metrics. Spend more time embracing the things that you love"
- My mantra for 2026

Less of a wrap up and more of a call to action this year.

TL;DR we need to take these motherfuckers down

I've set up a small monthly newsletter called Focus State.

With accessibility support shrinking in a lot of orgs, I wanted to create something that divides that gap, builds community, and makes the internet a bit more fun.

If you dig digital accessibility give it a look:

A few years back, I nearly wrote "The Fallacy of Federated Design Systems." Then @nathanacurtis.bsky.social beat me to it. But what happens when you try it anyway?

At Spotify, I watched federated fail twice, resulting in a huge number of barely reused components and damaged trust in design systems.
Why Federated Design Systems Keep Failing
Why do federated design systems keep failing? I watched it happen twice at Spotify. Here's what actually happened, where they broke down, and why centralised models usually work better.

I've never seen the industry so reluctant to spend. I had a company with 9 figures (yes, in USD) in revenue turn down a low five figure quote for a custom solution that would be revenue generating.

As a side note, if you're looking for a web swiss army knife, your gal is free in Q1~

I’m often asked for freelance UI/UX designer recommendations, but my list is out of date — most folks I used to refer are now full-time or doing other work.

Time to fix that.

If you’re an independent UI/UX designer doing hands-on client work, drop your website/portfolio! DM/email fine too.
