"We did buy a pipeline because we felt there was a need to still get Alberta's oil to market," McKenna says. "And what did we get? They did not live up to their end of the bargain under any stretch of the imagination."

A couple of years ago I offered a Studio sculpture experience. For $2000 you could spend the morning or afternoon making or watch me make a sculpture, then you get to take the sculpture home. The proceeds would go to The Stollery. Last time 3 people booked this and they all loved it.

Back in school, I wrote an essay about how two-tier healthcare would improve access for everyone.

It makes intuitive sense: create a second line and the original one gets shorter, right?

A better look at the evidence and arguments like Picard's changed my mind. 🧵
Picard’s point on AB’s new “dual practice” plan: evidence shows letting surgeons bill public & private won’t fix wait times, it likely lengthens them, drains staff from public hospitals, adds red tape, and undermines access.

A solution in search of a problem. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/70a7e73...
Allowing doctors to practise in both public and private systems solves what exactly?
What Alberta is proposing may sound good superficially, but it makes no sense in the Canadian context

And of course, there's zero evidence of any cases of 'sterilization of children', because that's not what's happening. This is nothing but an anti-trans moral panic propagated by evil, hateful scum.
The UCP, and their supporters, are claiming that S33 needed to be used to prevent sterilization of children. But no evidence is provided about the amount of surgery occurring below 18 (puberty blockers are not the same thing as surgery). Is it 0, 5, 50, 500, 5000?

support of far-right orgs such as TBA doesn't come cheap
"Whether it’s lies about the safety of puberty blockers or the competitive impact of allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports, the stances and statements Smith is repeatedly trotting out.... are at their best misleading and at their worst outright lies."

Not just because I'm writing a book on #BattlestarGalactica, but damn I wish this show was streaming right now (it's not! this is Not Good). Partly bec it's MORE relevant than ever, partly bec it fucking rules, mainly bec Laura Roslin shouting "I'M COMING FOR ALL OF YOU" is now my entire personality

Alberta keeps saying it plans to "double" oil production by 2035. But the math here doesn't come close to mathing --- and it has nothing to do with Ottawa's policies. #cdnpoli #abpoli

The biggest obstacle standing between Alberta and its premier's repeated pledge to double oil production isn't the tanker ban, the emissions cap, or any other piece of federal legislation. It's realit...

re the new license plate... what a ignorant comment by a minister. it's getting harder to distinguish the UCP from the GOP

the good news is that we can keep our current license plate forever

If there was any doubt left that Smith’s anti-trans policies were anything more than craven politics…

If this is accurate it means she’s delayed robbing charter rights to try and distract from another massive financial scandal.
