I have to say, I love that the #Genealogy community still manages to find each other even on a different platform. Long may the conversations & learning continue! Hello, friends. ❤️
I highly encourage this! Although I don't think it is a requirement to enjoy the book by any means, I do think it leads to a bit of deeper appreciation and understanding regarding the book. Enjoy!
As a Deneuve fan, I really enjoyed this book. It is definitely a unique concept!
I'm fascinated by #shipwrecks so it's really interesting to virtually watch as researchers explore the NOAA's #LakeOntario Marine Sanctuary after they left port in Oswego, NY. #CNY #history #NewYork

Some sad confirmation from @bcgl.bsky.social while I was at UW last week—the National Digital Newspaper Program—which builds Chronicling America—has been shut down

Historical newspapers are probably the archival material most used by the general public—for genealogy, local history—it’s such a loss

I've been reading "Ancestor Trouble: A Reckoning and a Reconciliation" by @maudnewton.bsky.social & listening to @adeemtheartist.bsky.social's "Heritage of Arrogance" on repeat this week. Powerful stuff.
Awkwafina's episode of #NoTasteLikeHomeWithAntoniPorowski was incredibly moving. Have you watched this 'ancestral gastronomic roots' show yet? #genealogy #familyhistory
Agreed! I remember getting up at 5am on Sundays when I was a teenager to watch reruns of it on the History Channel. The eps were all new to me at that time, and I loved it. I was thrilled when Time Life released all 4 seasons of it on DVD. The protagonist in this book reminds me so much of McMurphy.
Currently reading historical fiction novel "The Women" by #KristinHannah. Loved the old "China Beach" TV series & "Healing Wounds" memoir by #DianeCarlsonEvans as well. #Booksky

This is great news! I really wish they offered opportunities to volunteer during evening or weekends at their CNY location. I'd sign up in a heartbeat. Maybe one day!
I have over 400 of my grandparents' letters from World War II. I have a CZUR ET24 Pro scanner that I am trying to digitize them all with, but it's hard to find the time when balancing life's other obligations as well.
Ancestry is wonderful, but it's a bit pricey unless you can access via a library. FamilySearch is also great and free, but know that it is a public tree that anyone can make changes to (for better or worse). RootsMagic10 is also a great software option, and is on sale for $20 right now. #Genealogy
Just found a 1944 US Naturalization Petition for a Danish man in the 16th Med Depot Co., stationed in England with the US Army. 2 company mates were witnesses, one of them is my grandfather. Might need to use Ancestry’s new Networks feature sooner than I had anticipated! #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
Safety first. Protect the meemaws.
I just watched Ndaba's keynote. This was very moving! Looking forward to reading his book.
Wishing the #genealogy community another fun and informative #rootstech! I'll be attending from my couch. #notatrootstech
Looking forward to watching, Phoebe!
Caught this episode today. I am SO sorry that you and so many others are going through all this. This listener is VERY proud of you for sharing your personal story with the world. Thank you for all of the work you did with USAID. 💙
Looking forward to watching, Kaye!
Sad to be missing your in-person sessions, but I'm really looking forward to watching "Escaping the Famine: Exploring Irish Settlements in Canada" online! Have fun, Melanie!
Some snaps from this #history nerd's recent trip downstate to Greenwich Village in NYC.
