I’ve been pretty busy with Other Things, but am chuffed to have received from the UK GRO on the marriage search deadline instead of a partial refund for “not found,” an email for a customer satisfaction survey - so now I await the cert in the mail…

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Once the World Series is over, I’m going to transition to soccer/European football/fútbol for my distraction from despair. As with baseball, it’s a sport I played when I was a girl. Fiddling around with options to watch (US market) - en Español is fine - undecided which app(s). Anyone?
