After some review and in the spirit of seeing the full story come to fruition, I’ve decided to put I Belong in the Sun (With You) on a hiatus for the next few months – at least through the end of the year. This decision is twofold:

Illario Appreciation Month: Week 3 - Blood Magic

This is my take on @nickthornborrow.bsky.social's narrative sketch of a shirtless and hulked out Illario. Thanks for the inspiration!

My friend just sent me this and I FEEEL ATTACKED 😭😭😭
He’s not a Rook, but…

While I like the one he has in game, I imagine Damián’s hair a lot more curly and unruly. He also has a couple of braids of longer hair, one that hangs down on the right with his bangs, and one pinned back behind his ear on the left; remnants of his long hair.

scorched earth approach. Whoever took out his partner would end up dead, as well as their entire bloodline for good measure.
25. If something were to happen to Illario, I think Damián would probably be inconsolable. He would throw himself into his work, and likely lose his life because of a reckless decision without his planner there to guide him. If something were to happen to Damián, Illario would likely take a (👇)
is still a lot of changes to Damián that have yet to be put out there. I’d like to offer more of his new role in our Dragon Age canon (which is part of why I’m answering all of these questions) but I am worried about the overlap with my fic, because it can be confusing to see so many big changes.
and I worked out our canon events/timelines. We have worked very hard behind the scenes to include Damián as a character in our canon events, simply because we both grew attached to him as he developed. Now that we have a solid grasp, I’ve started to be able to trickle out information, but there (👇)
24. The way they are portrayed in my current work is entirely different from their canon relationship. When ‘I Belong in the Sun (With You)’ was started, Damián was not a very fleshed out character, and he was essentially created for Illario. That has changed as time has gone on and my partner (👇)
In the end, however, I think they come out stronger as a couple and as a Family – the Dellamortes will live on.
23. Domestic life for them at first looks like working together. They take contracts with one another, splitting the work to make it easier and get more done. I do think eventually they have children; this requires a very high-level of effort for them both, and nearly causes them to split up. (👇)
22. Damián loves PDA. He’ll lean into every touch, whole-heartedly kiss back no matter how many people are around. It’s also one of the easiest ways for Illario to show he cares; small affections are reassuring for them both. Even when they’re mad at one another, they will never deny physical touch.
21. Illario fears he’s unlovable, and horribly, that Damián might also leave him for his cousin. Damián is scared he’s going to be used for his body only and tossed aside again when things become emotional.
20. This is a tough question – marriage in the Crows can be so finicky. I do think they eventually make that contract commitment to one another because it benefits both of their Families, but it takes several years and other people’s urging to fully seal the deal.
19. It depends on the situation. Illario is more likely to be forward about sex and physical intimacy. Damián is more forward about his needs and wants in life.
18. They’re not ‘doomed’ per-say, though Damián definitely views their relationship that way at first. He’s very convinced it’s one-sided and that he’s going to be hurt again. That mentality almost causes a permanent break-up.
17. They both would kill to protect the other, no questions asked.
encourages them both to actually put in the effort to learn how to love. How to see and be seen by someone else at the most vulnerable points.
16. Love is something they both crave. Damián looked for it in the wrong places before, and Illario’s view of it is so skewed by his upbringing that they’re both very unsure how to love at first. It takes work, which neither of them were prepared for, but their commitment to one another (👇)
he know’s that Damián will be there to help him pick up the pieces.
partner is a planner. At the same time, Illario becomes more comfortable with spontaneous decisions and going with the flow. He’s more open to helping others with Damián there to remind him it’s okay to be kind sometimes. He’s also far less likely to fall apart when something goes unexpectedly; (👇)
15. Damián feels safe with Illario. He’d been manipulated and pushed around most of his young life, so having someone he can turn to that he knows will protect him makes him more at ease. He’s less high-strung with Illario, and less prone to jumping into things without thinking because his (👇)
