Please allow me to re-share my rough sketch of some advanced carbon capture technology
a cartoon with two panels

panel one is a stick figure saying "oh! a fossil fuel!!" standing above a crudely drawn black lump under a brown ground

Panel two is them walking away and saying "I'll just leave it there"

The head of the person is not a drawn circle but the letter O, because the random software I used to draw it did that for unexplained reasons

Climate change behind 36% of damage inflicted by Typhoon Ragasa in China.
Increasing the CO2 levels will increase the intensity of hurricanes and typhoons.
Numbers for the effect of climate changes are calculated after an incident, and it's serious numbers.

As of 30 June 2025, a cumulative 3,099 climate-related cases have been filed in 55 national jurisdictions and 24 international or regional courts, etc.
While cases from the Global South still represent less than 10 per cent in 2025, their share is steadily growing.

I believe the optimistic scenario probably isn't very realistic as the emissions won't decrease as fast as we want even though we recently saw some positive results on electricity, China etc.

My question is what did they change in the models and why did they suddenly revise their data?

The heat waves in Europe and the rest of the world is killing people.
Unfortunately the number of excess mortality due to heat will increase significantly in line with rising temperatures.
The way to change this is to stop burning fossil fuels and take serious responsibility for the green transition

The summer is over - and for about 16,600 people across 854 European cities that doesn't mean autumn comes, but death. People who would still be alive if it wasn't for our burning of fossil fuels. - New study with @lshtm.bsky.social www.imperial.ac.uk/grantham/pub...

No, the fossil fuel companies are not working for a green transition, their contributions are marginal.
There is no excuse for them not to take responsibility and ramp up their investments in clean energy - they have a responsibility and they have the means.
So pls start taking it serious now...

I don't believe that there are many on @bsky.app that think it's a good idea to continue investing in fossil fuels/coal.

Beside the problems with GHGs, pollution, increasing mortality, etc. 99% of existing US coal plants are more expensive than green energy....

99% of the U.S. coal fleet is now more expensive than replacement by local clean energy, which could generate $589 billion in new investment.

The effect of the US administration and their lack of understanding for the necessary green transition is starting to show in where the investments go.
US investment in renewables was down 36% in the first half of the year compared to the second half of last year, while, EU-27 investment was up 63%.

Wow, this is good news from Suriname committing to protect 90% of Surinam's forests.
Taking into account that Surinam is covered with approx. 93% forest emphasizes what huge news this is.
Most other countries are not able to protect anything near the same percentage but it sends a strong signal...

Globally, the IEA (International Energy Agency) has lowered their renewable energy growth forecast for 2025-2030 by 5% compared to last year to reflect political, regulatory and market changes since October 2024.
