❤️ London. Banal @Sloughtownfc.bsky.social & Surrey Cricket @kiaoval.com obsession. Beer sometimes. Higher Ed occasionally. London now but always Slough
I should be excited. Boro have a 3rd Rd Vase game on Saturday (5 games from Wembley) & my beloved Rebels have their biggest game in a decade on Sunday in the FA Cup 2nd rd. & I'll be in Antwerp in a week. But I'm not excited. Not 1 bit. I know why, & it's shit. 1/

I know grief isn't linear, there will be better days, and I deliberately kept myself busy over weekend so I didn't have to think about it, but today has kicked me in the stomach all day and doesn't seem to be backing off at all

My wife is hidden behind the 2ft naan bread, and the Afghan kebabs that accompanied it were fantastic.

They knew this would make me laugh, and i needed it this week. Football. Its not just what happens on the pitch, its the community off it that makes it special #OneSlough #AllTheRebels

Thats good to see. A few of the lads back to fitness, especially at the back. Could be a 433 or 424 in extremis. Henry, Tarik and Dan still to come back. Another tough game but im hopeful. #OneSlough
Your Rebels on the road this afternoon as they face Dover Athletic in National League South action. ⚽

Seven changes to the XI as Ojemen, Reiss Greenidge, Goddard, Nelson, Myers, Janneh and Holness come in for Clarke, Drakes-Thomas, Makowski, Davies, Roth, Borgnis and Walker.

Might stop raining by full time. A thoroughly miserable day to be on the terraces. The one stand with cover might be busy today #UTB #WeAreHaringey

No @sloughtownfc.bsky.social for me tomorrow. I don't do Dover away for Reasons. So it's Coles Park for the 1st time in 3 weeks & a chance to see how @haringeyboroughfc.bsky.social FA Vase opponents shape up next weekend. #NonLeagueIsTheBestLeague

I haven't been to Cardiff for years, and this is a perfect opportunity for a long weekend #3Feathers

This is a massively dumb way to fund things. Just fund local government properly through fiscal devolution, council tax reform, and social care reform. Oh, wait, you ducked all of those again....

Struggling to process this at the moment. My comrade is gone. My thoughts are with his family and all that loved him. Raise socialist hell in the next life brother

Popped out for a few bits and its horrible here today. There's a definite atmosphere. I had forgotten its the #NLD. Time for a quick pint in the beer shop and then home to cook. Getting right out of this

#NP This came on randomly and I'm instantly returned to 1993, the summer after its release, A great time of cider, bongs and giggles. And soundtracked by this banger of an album youtu.be/aatK_l9Yuyk?...

I am old enough to remember hundreds of county players being forced to play with a Kookaburra ball for weeks on end, while the Test side was in action at the same time and not using one.
Maybe it was a fever dream? Must have been.
Imagine Surrey scoring 800+ and a bowler going for 200+?
Bad dream!

Hhhmmm. Go to bed full of optimism about the cricket. Wake up and things are very different. And now I've got to watch my team, with the worst GD in the division, play the form team. Sport is rubbish

I know Spector is deeply problematic. It doesn't stop this being 1 of the 2 best Christmas albums of all time & is always played on the morning along with the Vince Guaraldi Trio's A Charlie Brown Christmas before heading to the pub

The cocktail is correct, and much as i dislike contradicting one of the country's greatest legal minds, I'd go with Berry Bros No 3 and Noilly Prat for a superior version of the world's greatest cocktail. Lemon twist or olive is acceptable. On no account spoil it with a pickled onion
Today’s #FridayCocktail is a classic dry martini.
The Botanist gin/Dolin vermouth. Have a good weekend.
