@ifyoucantwell.bsky.social Saw this post about Hacks on Tumblr--it's deeply true, and the rallying cry of Halt. Donna/Cameron and Joe/Gordon would all agree! #haltandcatchfire

Yesterday a kid I taught 4 yrs ago came back to visit & said my class helped him realize he wanted to pursue the humanities & now he’s going into graduate school in philosophy and … I really needed that win this week. Reaching out to a teacher who made a difference is always the right call.

OMG I FORGOT

before the walking lunges, while I panted in half-death from the squats:

Trainer: [grabbing weights, back turned] I want to see you do these with [mumblemumble]

Me: [stunned] you want to see me do them with ANIMAL GRACE?

Trainer: [staring] I said minimal brace
Gym today was a very medicinal endurance leg day: squatting bandwalks paired with “pulsing” banded deep squats, weighted walking lunges + 10s paired with step-ups on to a box, & 24-inch box jumps to finish. A sweaty breathless session.

@eccantwell.bsky.social Texas just passed a thing incentivizing schools to incorporate the Bible into ELA classes by paying them $60 a student. To add to your existential crisis, here's a link to their teacher's guide for a Grade 5 unit on Narnia. d1yqpar94jqbqm.cloudfront.net/documents/BL...

I hate when they take away things you were just starting to really enjoy, like your favorite TV show or democracy.

@amalelmohtar.com @maxgladstone.bsky.social Someone wrote a fanfic for Yuletide (an annual exchange for small-fandom fanfiction) that's a crossover of your book, Star Trek Lower Decks, and Star Trek TNG. If either of you is a Trekkie, I think you'd like it. archiveofourown.org/works/52297468

In the wake of Tumblr's downscaling announcement last week, I wrote about my favorite social media platform, and the ways both broader internet commentary and Tumblr's current owners have misunderstood the site in recent years: www.wired.com/story/end-of...
Tumblr Is Always Dying
The mainstream narrative has declared Tumblr dead for years. Last week, a leaked memo finally revealed the site’s plans to scale down its operations—but its art, fandoms, and inside jokes rage on.

After at least two years by herself at the bottom of a Scottish cliff, Fiona the sheep was rescued on Saturday and brought to a farm, where she is set to live out the rest of her days. Some animal rights activists are concerned about her new home. nyti.ms/3QrEpjd

@amalelmohtar.com I happened to come across your old Goodreads rec for a brilliant AO3 fic of Time Wars. I've never seen an author admit to having READ fic of their work, much less actively *recommend* it. And that leads me to ask . . . do you read fic regularly? Have you ever written it yourself?

@amalelmohtar.com Just finished my sixth or so reading of Time Wars--loving it more each time. Question: were you influenced at all by A. S. Byatt's POSSESSION (also a favorite of mine?).
