TL;DR: Good game with a couple issues, main ones being gameplay I thought wasn't very good and a translation that's comedically bad. Story was very good, at least

I fully intend to play more Breath of Fire II, but fir now I got Ple's Qubeley and finally invested in a pair of God Hand nippers, so my cuts can be a bit more precise than before (the nub marks on the Guren MK.II really irked me, so I decided it was time to splurge)

Oh my god fuck these stupid slugs in Breath of Fire II, they spam magic constantly and it can't be countered or dodged,so my party just takes guaranteed dmg every time I fight them

kirby is a really interesting franchise because it's been made by the same studio and largely the same team of people for over 30 years so you can see these very clear evolutions of ideas and gameplay, it's like a window into a universe where everybody didn't burn down their institutional know-how

Breath of Fire II having an incredibly pace disrupting grinding dungeon where the game basically forces you to get close to lvl 30 regardless of if you want it or not is the first time I think I've used emulator speed up in awhile, jeez
