Weekend of fun & chores: Christmas Market in the boonies where I bought birch tea light holders, craft beer, cranberry pumpkin bread, pirogies, sausages, sheep’s milk crackers and Mimolette/Truffle Bourgogne, drank gingerbread lattés, fixed my Fluevog boots, shovelled snow & cleaned the garage.

So my blood work shows I no longer have IGT & am in normal range. 🙌🏻 Despite this and being at a good weight & having no blood pressure issues, my cholesterol is elevated. 😫 Think a big reason is no cardio workouts since moving in & taking care of Mom. I need to exercise my heart! I can do this!

It’s that time again: Chocolate Advent Calendars! Started this tradition with my late Dad when he was sick. My Mom loves Lindt so I got her their calendar & shockingly, it was cheaper in a store than at the Lindt warehouse by $3! Got the more luxurious calendar at Stubbe for Roman & I as a treat!

Aux Merveilleux De Fred looks pretty all festively dressed up. Missed my chocolate cramik brioche & mocha over the last 2 months. Also tried Alfie’s Sandwiches & had the fantastic Crema Di Parma (mortadella, parmesan cream, chopped pistachios, roasted bell pepper).

Sometimes I forget but I always have bad experiences w/ L’Oréal products. Recently had a contact dermatitis reaction & couldn’t figure out why. Well, bought their purple conditioner for grey hair & I’m positive it has lavender (which I’m allergic to) but it’s not listed (I always check). Not cool.

Two stay with me: my Dad said he never had to worry about me because I did what I had to & got stuff done & early on my BF said I am the most honest person he has ever met.
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

Didn’t quite get to do the birthday celebration I had planned for Roman but we still made it to Occhiolino for a great Dinner & I made a deconstructed Black Forest Birthday Cake (ie. I didn’t have to ice the whole cake or pipe rosettes! 😂) with a yummy whipped cream/mascarpone frosting.

Watching S4 THE CROWN with my Mom and CHALLENGERS (not with my Mom) & both star Josh O’Connor, who I have just discovered. BTW: I am Team Art in CHALLENGERS. Yeah, lust is nice but what about lust *and* maturity/dependabilty/having your back? Now that is 🔥!

Had a really good beef Brisket Salad in the boonies last night. The beef brisket was not as soft as my fave Cherry Street’s but it was still delicious with the huge fresh salad & secret yummy dressing it was served alongside. Added sweet potato fries too (they don’t spike me but parsnips are a no).

Have you seen Al Pacino play an ageing Grandpa? No? Then you need to watch TWO BITS. It's a family drama from 1995 about one summer in Philadelphia in the 1930s.

I am bummed that the location I frequented of my favourite supermarket has closed. Began shopping there regularly at the start of the pandemic because it was spacious, privately owned & had lots of selection. I really hate supporting the major corporations who own every grocery store now, it seems.

Some people stay with you even when they're no longer visible. They've left behind something that never fades: light, love, traces in the heart. And that's exactly where their place remains. Forever.

Today (yes, November 19th) I heard a cover of Wham’s Last Christmas & wondered if it was December, would I lose Whamageddon? I found my answer! (No, covers don’t count.)

Y-san texted me Tatsuya Nakadai has died. This makes me sad. One Summer all I watched were his movies - I was obsessed! What a filmography! My faves include: HIGH AND LOW, HARAKIRI, THE FACE OF ANOTHER, YOJIMBO, WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS, THE HUMAN CONDITION TRILOGY & RAN. One of the greatest.

I’ve done *a lot* of weeding in my lifetime so I guess I’m lucky it never went like it did in THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN! Had one ex-friend tell people there was something psychologically wrong with me for weeding her. I’m a believer in appreciating relationships but also moving on with no regrets.

Good thing I got my snow tires on Monday night! (2-10cm of snow tonight - I’M NOT READY!) But I need a new battery. Mine lasted 8 years (unbelievable!). That time, Dad was alive & I’d taken him to the Ophthalmologist & back home. While I was mailing a letter, my car died in front of the mailbox.
