A sentient swamp is here to chill you out with original nature videos and field recordings, or as the kids like to call it, "Swamp ASMR". The swamp's bluesky includes unfinished work, musings, experimentation, and photography. linktr.ee/SwampVids

Welcome to bluesky! Nice to see you recognizing the expansion of North Korean style propaganda as an essential service during your shutdown. Woke swamp here. Been trying to get on your domestic terrorist watch list but your sign-up form on your website appears to be a dead link. Please add! Thanks!
Found the goldmine video. Here. Bookmark this. Any time you are sad or anxious, you must listen to these little gremlin muppet sounds.

Hand Feeding A Baby Crow

Important: If you have a goldmine video of baby crows eating and you politely share it with the world online and you put music over the sound, you just broke the whole video, seriously, why would do that? Why?
Ghost pipe coming next week. It's taking a while to write.
After ovipositing, she wraps her eggs in a silken blanket which she carries around in her jaws like a bundle of kittens until they hatch.
This particular species is more likely to cannibalize PRIOR to mating. Once she's mated, she chills out and goes back to eating fish. So...it might just be related to mate choice. Yep, sorry guys, you're not tragic heroes, you're just food.
And the males are lured straight into the sea witch's trap and that's where things get awkward, because there's a 60% chance she will try to eat him. Another one of those weird and beautiful tales of self-sacrifice to nourish the young spiderlings, right? Not so simple.
The males have an exciting life because the females will place a spell on top of the water in the form of pheromones. "Please, come closer! Closerrrr!" speak the pheromones.
Dolomedes scriptus, the striped fishing spider, a giant as far as New England arachnids go. They walk on water! They dive underwater! They eat fish! Yes! Great, ok. Moving on. ⬇️

Pleased to find this Jack Snipe at Grafham Water this afternoon (only the 5th time I’ve seen this species here). Also happy to find 5 Common Scoters @cambsbirdclub.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social #ukbirding #cambirds
What is it about our eastern climate that ranges from temperate to tropical with generally consistent rainfall and few extreme environments is so inhospitable to non-native plants?

What would you like tonight? Fishing spiders or ghost pipe vid?
First one to name all the warblers correctly can have the swamp.
The swamp may have unintentionally managed to start a flamewar over warblers. Are you impressed?

Internet...blessed internet...you are so unique. And important.

Anyway, maybe it's time to go back to making videos! Chill out and enjoy a bird pile. 🪶 #naturevideos #calm #warblers #timelinecleanse
Please, everyone, get rid of your bird netting and decorate your windows immediately.
Why is there no "mute all dead wood thrushes" filter on inaturalist? Completely archaic, disturbing website. You're all about to have a trauma case swamp.
Swamp update: It’s raining!!
Ready to have your mind-blown? These are the SAME species. #birds #herons #babybirds
Trying to create a project for bird undersides on inaturalist but apparently you need 50 observations before you're deemed adept enough to start such a project.

You're supposed to record each individual as a separate observation for science on that site, correct?
Ruby-crowned kinglet butt for your viewing pleasure. #fallmigration 🪶
