I do not currently have capacity to help those struggling in war zones. I'm sorry.
Please do NOT tag me in posts about this.
I do not mean anyone any harm, but I just cannot handle it, so I will block if you tag me.
In looking for something completely different, I stumbled across this amazing video. The world record for largest marimba ensemble with most number of players (1276!). Humans are awesome & silly & incredible.

I mean, I backed it not having read it. And the opener was solid enough that I predict I'm going to just binge the whole thing and your back catalog as soon as I have time to start.
But also: hate reading is also a thing. 😉
The terrors will keep. Your energy/stamina/care still needs replenishing. A few hours (or days) away will not shatter what is. As long as you're still keeping in touch with your immediate vulnerable peeps, take those breaks. This is a sustained choir note; we stagger the breaks yet the note remains.
I sometimes take a walk & only let myself take out my phone to take pics of scenes that speak to me. Mostly, that's weird angles with street signs, or leaves, or a neighbor's flowers/garden, or an odd juxtaposition of elements. Something that makes me pause and contemplate. I don't have to share it.
That is AWESOME! Well done!

Hey, just FYI, there's a save feature now! (Little bookmark button towards the right under posts.) Saved posts show up on your sidebar under "Saved".
Took me a long while to figure something out. Here's my offering:

Bring back both dodos and passenger pigeons for the express purpose of making them cage fight.

(Given the nature of these, I'm not actually certain they're capable of violence to each other, but hey, let's find out!)
lets say a wizard has cursed you with a lot of money. you are going to become permanently brain damaged simply by being in possession of so much money. the only way out of it is to spend a lot of money on something ridiculous and not at all useful

what would you buy to break the curse?
Given my family history, I was definitely having some serious weasel brain worries. So glad that the surgery should be straight forward and I won't have to do anything additional (or worry about cancer from this angle).
It's also the last of the insurance hazing rituals. Home stretch!
Wooooo! I am confirmed bitch-bits cancer free!
(Biopsy pre-hysto came back clear!)
I wish masking in public, especially high density places, was more common.
I haven't had even the sniffles since I started masking beginning 2020. *knocks on wood* I have a tiny face, I buy my own KN95 kid/small masks since I found a version that fits (took awhile to find). My partner is vulnerable & I work front desk medical. It's a nice surprise when others mask now.
24. A song by a band you wish were still together.
(Bands break up for lots of reasons & I'm terrible at imagining limited case scenarios. So I'm "cheating", in that this band cannot exist again due to death.)

I... Well, I guess they're a former acquaintance for Reasons, and I'm guessing that wasn't the only issue.
A bit boggling to me, but I'm guessing most people in my circles that took issue with my name dabbling before I settled already self-sorted out the door.
I know when I move abroad that I will be going to battle to maintain this name. I would hazard that most people (esp. of narrative majority) aren't familiar with the process or social tools necessary to do that work. It's work to keep an unusual name, especially in a grindstone country like the U.S.
The concept of "well just fix it later" is mind blowing. Bureaucracy is not always transparent, or even documented. Fix it *where*?!
My chosen name (legal) is never going to dodge petty power moves. I get them daily in small interactions. 2/3
I feel like the OP of this discussion has been incredibly privileged personally to never be in a position where someone without "official power" still has enough bureaucratic clout to destroy your life on a whim.
My given name got any number of petty indignities inflicted on it. 1/3
My grandfather didn't have a middle name. He declared his middle initial, when necessary, to be Z. It did not stand for anything, he refused to invent a name. But the Z was his own way of filling the bureaucratic blank that was mandatory.
Algorithm: Don't you want ENGAGEMENT?!
Me: What's HAPPENING?! Oh, right, I wrote something where people can actually see it. This is supposedly expected.
Algorithm: You could get MOAR engagement!
Me: Um... I freak out at 10+ likes and more than 2 quotes, hon, I am not your target audience. LOL
Pretty sure I'm a weirdo in social media land.

Ex: I responded to a request for otter content with links to various aquariums' sea otter cams. Likely, the post was meant as a joke or rhetorical, but, well, here my quirky self is!
I keep panicking & then being charmed by the ❤️ responses. 😅
Yikes. Mutual aid is useful for patching a leak, it is not a great reliability source, and animals (of any stripe) *really* need reliability. I hope the someone realizes their own limitations and declines. Oof.
Discovery thanks to @kevinhearne.bsky.social for requesting an otter channel, so I hunted down some aquarium otter cams. 😁
Random discovery of the day:
Georgia Aquarium has a jelly cam! (One of my favorite things about it is that you can sometimes see reflections of aquarium visitors in the glass, being delighted by the jellyfish.)
