I do not currently have capacity to help those struggling in war zones. I'm sorry.
Please do NOT tag me in posts about this.
I do not mean anyone any harm, but I just cannot handle it, so I will block if you tag me.
It's so good! If you (reader) are looking for a good shapeshifter romance with a bit of a slower burn, great character building, and some deeper questions to ponder, snag this!
My first in series (first ever!) paranormal romance, Memoirs of a Fox, is FREE until Dec 28th!

Cass (who doesn't know any other shifters) meets Tommy (puma shifter) on her first day of college. Instant attraction, but it takes about ten years of heartache to get together.

Did my first volunteer shift at our local tool library, spent some time learning bike maintenance!

Damn, it's so nice to hang out with people who like solving puzzles & assume competence & do their best to keep the judgement down.

Next shift is Monday. 😁

Throwing this book on my later list for reading.
I am reminded of "Gift from the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh & "An Unknown Woman" by Alice Koller and how pivotal those works were for giving me some foundations in how to pull apart my defaults & inculturation. 1/

Recently at a Q&A, the chair asked me an excellent question: Why do you push so hard against the idea of a ‘nature cure’ when moments in your book Drystone - A Life Rebuilt might look like exactly that?

The answer is simple.

Dude couldn't manage to be awarded a real peace prize, so he bought himself a McDonald's happy meal version to compensate. In gold, of course, has to match the toilets!
Just... Wow. He's basically a parody of himself & every badly written '70s villain.
President Donald Trump was awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize on Friday during the final draw for the 2026 World Cup.

Had an amusing fail making dinner last night. The dinner itself was not ruined (simmer sauce butter masala w/chicken, carrots, peas, & slivered almonds), thankfully.
But I had the idea to add some butternut squash as well (pre-frozen). Followed directions on package to microwave & got... Charcoal. 😂

I might be entirely Done with hiring scams. My latest reply:

"Thank you for your kind offer to scam me, but I am egregiously disinterested. Please remove me from all future contact.

Thank you,
"Applicant""
(Form email literally opened with "Hello Applicant" 🤦‍♀️)

Oh dear, I read the thread, it gets even cheekier. I am terribly amused.

To the horny (& pervy) teenagers in all of us, I hope they make this happen. This is great.
Opportunities to transform nature don’t get much bigger than this!

We have the opportunity to conserve 340 acres (138 hectares) of biodiverse countryside surrounding the Cerne Abbas Giant, Dorset.

Ouch. Right in the history!
My mother frequently "joked" that she was raising her own mother... Her mother used to quip, "no, I think you're raising mine!"

My dad was a stabilizing influence, but when he died, it became rapidly apparent that my mother expected me to make adult decisions. Wild.
You were a kid. It was your job to be an imperfect work in progress. They were the adult. It was their job not to take your imperfection personally. The fact that they weren't up to that job isn't your fault-- you COULDN'T have done your parents' job for them if you'd wanted to.

There is this ridiculous older film called, "Zorro The Gay Blade" that I adore. It's amazing, recommend forever.

A line in it is, "And this hat, in need of blocking."
& my brain is now cheerfully chortling "& this user, in need of blocking" for when Bsky posts go sideways. 🤣

If you have an interest in a narrative that has a most satisfying ending, go snag this gem now!
Lot of content warnings, so be braced, but the ending pulls everything together & my rumination brain managed to close some loops thanks to this book. 💜

World AIDS Day.
These stories are important. We need to keep moving forward, to support survivors & people who live with HIV/AIDS.

I haven't (to my knowledge) known anyone directly who was HIV+, but I could tell a slew of stories of 2nd-hand prejudice & of the grief from losing people too soon.
LONG RAMBLING EMOTIONAL THREAD:

It's World AIDS Day. Since the Administration has decided to keep it quiet, I'd like to share my introduction to AIDS.

I grew up in Seattle. My mom remarried a man who had a brother who was a King County Sheriff's Deputy. His name was Terry and he was gay. 1/x

It's not that my mother didn't give me anything.
It's that she never gave me anything without strings.

And that is why she is no longer in my life.

I'm still hunting for the stag... 😅
I love this artist's compositions, always soothing.
My mental health declined pretty badly last wk but some of you asked for more photos like the hunt-the-tiny-owl one I made & I wanted to try to make an advent calendar so:some lovely things that fell off trees & this time a tiny deer stag to find.
Do let me know if you enjoy this & I'll make more 🦌

Yesterday, we went to a volunteer orientation for our local tool library. We've already signed up & selected shifts. 😅
A few green flags that super stuck out for me:
1) Emphasized heavily that time is valuable & worth more than almost anything
2) Listening & asking followup questions (cont)

Hot take: Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to be a representative or senator if you're not paying your taxes.
Like, if you're not paying into the collective pot, maybe you shouldn't be advising on it.
U.S. Sen. Jim Justice of West Virginia has agreed to pay nearly $5.2 million in overdue personal taxes, the latest saga for the former billionaire who has been followed by a trail of financial challenges going back well over a decade. https://to.pbs.org/3K98FQW

To do list for tomorrow:
Hit up both library systems I'm part of and request at least the first in series for books by @kristadb1.bsky.social, @skyladawn.ca, @klnoone.bsky.social, & @plaatsch.bsky.social. Just looked & there's either none or very little in both systems for these lovely authors.

Don't worry about me, but maybe share Skyla's direct buy store b/c that's where she makes the absolute most money - and she has vet bills. I cannot imagine seeing an author post "I have two cats nearing the end" and go oh, I should steal from her.

Between this & the news about Tehran, I keep getting flashes from Marjorie B. Kellogg's "The Dragon Quartet" series. I should see if they're available on ebook & reread them.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

Climate change is a large chunk of this equation, which we have known about since the 1960s.
A pox on oil lobbyists for their apocalyptic decisions to sacrifice long term prosperity for short term exploitations.

Reading the 1st book in @kristadb1.bsky.social's, so far most excellent, Ladies Occult Society series and hit this gem:
"Of course I can drink tea," [she] said with disgust. "What am I? French?"
A very good thing I was not drinking tea at that moment, or my ereader would definitely have been damp! 🤣
