#otd vor 295 Jahren in #Kaufbeuren geboren: die Schriftstellerin Marie Sophie von La Roche (geb. Gutermann v. Gutershofen). Ab 1771 etablierte sie einen literarischen Salon, in dem u. a. Goethe und Wieland verkehrten. Ihr Briefnachlass wurde von einem Nachfahren an das #GSAWeimar übergeben.

clarity in philosophy is mostly about replacing the language you speak, one where you can’t be sure which inferences are ok to draw from an assertion til you’ve seen someone else assert the same, with another language, where no-one at all knows which inferences are fine to draw
